This is the order of Star Wars things I like best -

1. Star Wars (original movie "A New Hope"). Empire is probably better and all that but I just love everything about this movie. Love how Han is such a jerk to Luke and Luke thinks he can fly a ship to Alderaan...  Love the jawas. Love the opening scene. Love Grand Moff Tarkin. This is my number 1.

2. Empire Strikes Back. Everything is great but the lightsabre duel on Cloud City is just the best. Love the dialogue between Darth and Luke during it - "All too easy" "You'll find I'm full of surprises".

3. Return of the Jedi. It's easy to dismiss this movie cuz of the Ewoks but this movie rocks. Palpatine is the best when he's baiting Luke. Love the whole Jabba's palace first act. Only things I don't like about this movie: Boba Fett dies way too easy. (in hindsight, he should have had a laser staff like the stormtrooper in The Force Awakens and he should have had a duel with Luke.) and the fact they made Luke and Leia brother and sister. (in my analysis, making Leia Luke's sister is the dumbest thing they wrote - it doesn't make sense that Vader would have Leia in his clutches twice - in Star Wars and in Empire and not realize she's his daughter. It was a dumb idea and not necessary at all. The Star Wars myth would totally work fine if Luke was an only child and Lucas didn't retroactively complicate things).

4. Solo. I get that not everyone may have seen it. I just love it.

5. Rogue One. Great movie.

6. The Force Awakens. It's kind of silly but I loved it. Lots of fun.

7. The Prequels - why bother discussing them. Whatever.

8. TIE - Droids/ Ewoks 80s cartoons.

9. TIE - Ewoks live action movies / Star Wars Holiday Special

10. All the Star Wars things I haven't watched like "Clone Wars" "Rebels" etc. I've seen snippets of them and they look kind of cool.

11. Last Jedi.

The original movie, in its original form.

End of list.

1. STAR WARS (original release)

2. Stormtrooper armor (original). Drawn to it from the beginning. Bad guys wearing white, who would of thunk? Fast forward 38 years, my son saves his money for 2 years and gets the armor, and it is all that.

3. Darth Vader voice, presence. For a 12 year old, wow antagonist supreme.

4. Tie Fighter sound.

Wait, before I continue. Jeremy is this all things SW or just movies?
Honest question.

Since "things" are mentioned in the title, and not "movies" (let's face it, how many other lists & threads are there covering just the films), I'm gonna go with:

-Kenner vintage STAR WARS toys (figures & vehicles--so much nostalgia, they were my childhood!)

-Vintage TOPPS trading cards (STAR WARS and EMPIRE only--the JEDI ones are ugly!)

-The original Marvel Comics STAR WARS issues, plus their EMPIRE adaptation

The only thing post-original that I like is... "The Imperial March" from EMPIRE.

Luke Skywalker. As a ten year boy seeing him for the first time, he was the epitome of who I wanted to be.
If you mean "things" as in non-human it would be light-sabers and my Marvel Star Wars comics. Again, at age ten there was nothing better.

1. The cantina band. (playset wanted with band figures and tiny plastic instruments with a CD of accompanying music)

2. R5-D4, the orange droid that fell over trying to get to Luke Skywalker. What if that hadn't happened; totally different saga! (had figure once)

3. Chess pieces that move! (haven't they made these yet?)

4. Tauntauns, I still want one! (the small plastic one is not enough, I want a big plastic one that will get ten miles to the gallon/litre)

5. Ewok stuffies, there could never be enough of them.

6. Tatoonie houses, they're almost like hobbit homes. (affordable housing?)

7. C-3P0s cerreal (not really, it sucked)

8. The Stormtrooper helmet (great for when there are wasps on the sundeck and reflecting of heat unlike the Vader helmet).

9. Jessica 6's Ankh necklace (oops, wrong movie).

10. 'Star Warm' by Good Ol' Charlie Shultz (from Crazy magazine, google image search it!)

I've echoed both sentiments before. STAR WARS is a great movie, and I mostly feel everything that's followed has done more harm than good. But the Imperial March is awesome...

I did notice nobody is saying Jar-Jar Binks, nor Meco's disco Williams themes from the '70s.

Marvel should've gotten Al Williamson to redo the adaption of the original movie, I remember finding a lot of the initial comics very disappointing, like Howard Chaykin had to do it super fast and then the infamous D. Hands were brought in to finish the inking in the homestretch. Those comics were all over the place from Dave Stevens to Klaus Janson style finishes.

Actually maybe someone, Dark Horse perhaps, did get Williamson to do just that? I better go look, so often my ideas occurred to others long before I've had them!

Since you mentioned Meco, Rebecca... I happen to love it!!

I remember freaking-out every time I heard it on the radio, anywhere between 1977-79... it's a wonderfully-dated radio time-capsule!

I learned The Hustle but for some reason I preferred the big LP, even for the Cantina band part. I did like some of the 'Stars On 45' medleys later, wonder if they had some of the same people involved?

I just remembered there was a plush R2-D2 that squeaked when you hugged it and the legs moved. Never wanted one I just remember it. Also large figures with hair for some of the main characters... Chewbacca could've come with a sample sized bottle of Woolite but I doubt they made one of him in that line. I was in L.A. just after Star Wars merchandizing was in full swing and there was every kind of imaginable thing for sale everywhere. Beach towels, necklaces, sheets and curtains, watches, waste paper baskets...
