We've lost another Moonwalker.  The whole crew of Apollo 12 is dead.

Greatly saddened by this. The Apollo 12 astronauts seemed to be the most fun crew in the programme, with their matching Corvette Stingrays, led by the jokey attitude of Pete Conrad.

Al Bean came across as a really nice guy in the documentaries I've seen with him. One of the impressive things about the Apollo astronauts were that they weren't just special by virtue of going to the moon -- you look at what they'd achieved before they went and they were already remarkable people. And there are so few left.

Found this thread on Twitter from Dr. Phil Metzger who was investigating how rocket exhaust blows lunar dust.
He called Al Bean, who was now an artist, to get his input.  Fascinating stuff:

It's incredibly brave to travel into space. Lots of things may go wrong - and it's a long way from home. Nothing but respect for those who have done it, including Al Bean.
