I'm sure the military's endorsement deal for their participation in the national anthem had a lot more to do with it.

If the event went as planned the talk would be about what a joke Trump is because maybe one player showed up.There was no positive outcome from this for Trump, he was set up to fail, and he did.

Yet so sure it was a great winning 'issue' for him. "I can set people further against each other? Exploit the symbols of the nation negatively? Exacerbate and insert my name? I'm in!"

Compulsory behavior of any sort (in the context of a display of one's patriotism) is antithetical to freedom of expression... which means (to me) it is anti-patriotic.

I don't have to stand for the national anthem or the Pledge of Allegiance if I don't want to do that. That's where I have freedom. It might make others uncomfortable or even angry, but so what? I have the right not to participate in this show of "authentic" love of country.

Fact is, I do love my country. I do stand for the anthem and do recite the Pledge--because I choose to. But I reject completely any bull-necked jackass who insists that I MUST do both or be a Commie, an America-hater or anything like that.

My exercise of freedom isn't theirs. And that is the point.

Fall in line or else says the great bully-in-chief. Unless you want to open a cake shop then not sell certain cakes to certain people you disapprove of celebrating something every other group of people celebrates, now that makes all the sense in the world!
