I can't pretend to know much about the semantics of this - gambling is alien to me - but I know my social media feeds were filled with complaints:

I don't have any issue with people betting on sports and I've always thought the leagues opposition to it - especially the NFL - was laughably hypocritical. So much major sports commentary is built around who will or won't cover point spreads, which is purely about gambling.

Gambling laws remind me a bit of prostitution laws, meaning they come from centuries old religious morality that I don't think is especially relevant to today's world (and probably wasn't relevant in the old days either but, well, I wasn't around then to bitch about it.)

Agreed.  It came to a head, for me, when Tony Romo was scheduled to do a Fantasy Football weekend in Vegas over the summer several years ago.  The NFL put a stop to it...as if NFL players aren't already playing fantasy sports.

Vegas has a college football team.  They have pro hockey.  They're getting an NFL team in two years.  To then say the rest of the country still shouldn't be allowed to legally bet on sports, but they can there? Ludicrous!
