This just showed up on my FB wall but you beat me to it.  I think it's great.  Cheesy and campy, but great.  Many people seem to actually dislike things like this or the Christmas Special or the Donnie and Marie appearance, etc. but I love 'em.

It's been a while but it hasn't been so long that I've forgotten how it felt to be starving for anything Star Wars related.  Back then, there wasn't an internet or even VCR's for the most part.  Especially in my neck of the woods where cable tv was actually a bit of a luxury.

So, when Mark Hamill would show up on the Muppet Show, it never occurred to me that it could be a "bad" thing.

More of the death of whimsy and light-heartedness that I was bemoaning in another thread. Sometimes things are simply meant to be fun. But we, as fans, take our fun very, very, very seriously.

Mark Hamill on THE MUPPETS: Fun and GREAT! NEVER a bad thing!

THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL: Awful... Just... awful...

(It does have a redeeming feature: The cartoon with Boba Fett's first appearance!)

I enjoy some good cheesy fun, but even as a kid, watching that holiday special the one and only time it aired, I knew it was bad.

It's probably a good thing I don't understand German.

I remember as a kid being so excited when Star Wars (my favourite movie) was on both my favourite TV shows (the Donny and Marie Show and the Muppet Show). If the cast had appeared on the Hardy Boys, I would have been ecstatic.

…Boba Fett…

••

The point at which we can draw a line thru the STAR WARS mythos. Before Boba Fett, a fun fantasy adventure. After (and including) Boba Fett, a machine for generating merchandise.

I would have thought by 1980 Hamill was making enough not to have to do appearances like this.
