I loved Dick Tracy as a kid but lost interest over the
years. I can't recall the last time I checked in on the
strip. This would've definitely grabbed my attention had
it come to pass.

I wonder how the syndicate (!) might have responded to the introduction of a supernatural element to the series whereby the most famous foes returned as minions of a Darkseid-level foe or players in an ongoing mystical revenge scheme. Either would have allowed for stories told on a scale readers might expect from JB and put some fondly recalled characters back into play. Science fiction was an element of the strip for many years, so I could see some leeway being given to allow this...
All speculation after the fact now, of course, and potentially in the school of using Dick Tracy characters to tell JB-type stories, but I can't help feeling that pitfall could have been avoided through vigilance and a constant focus on Tracy's no-nonsense, hard-nosed (!) approach to crime-fighting, no matter how fantastical the foe.
Conversely, keeping things more earthbound, the foes' appearances and M.O.'s could have been closely imitated by a new villain or flock of villains who engage in forgery or theatrical impersonation.
All beside the point now, it's nevertheless fun to think what might have been. With the strip engaging in team-ups with the Spirit and Green Hornet, would the book have had such freedom as well? Could this have lead to a story set in Gotham City? Tantalizing to consider...
Also fun, the page shown brings up pleasant associations between the work of former Charlton creators JB and Joe Staton.

Wow wonderful sample page JB. Fingers crossed that there might yet be a story to spark some day. If not and no art robot interest, to help each other along how about co-written? A straw suggestion to keep seeing new displays of your talent.Thanks for posting that art page JB.

Sorry to hear this DICK TRACY project didn't pan out, JB. Hopefully your next assignment is a better 'fit'. Heck, I'm hopeful for more creator-owned stories from you at some point in the near future. (DANGER UNLIMITED, maybe???)

OT: I loved Joe Staton comics at Charlton. What happened? I didn't really like his work after that... although I bought Green Lantern for quite awhile. Some artists are like that I guess. Tom Sutton did some great work at Charlton too, not so much outside of that.
