Iím ready to say that Dave Filoni does Star Wars better than Lucas. Which is ironic, because I initially dismissed the first seasons of both THE CLONE WARS and REBELS as too juvenile.

Giving everyone an ending, while introducing a new beginning was a perfect way to say goodbye to these characters. I kind of want an Ahsoka/Sabine galaxy road trip series as they search for Ezra.

Other notes:

- Apparently Twiílek lekku and skin tones are recessive.
- More confirmation that Rex is the old guy in RETURN OF THE JEDI.

These last few episodes really sent the series off on a high note. I have a feeling REBELS will end up being the best 2.5 hours of STAR WARS I get to see this year.

I hate kid characters in general, and Ezra in particular consistently got on my nerves, so I was surprised by how invested I was in his fate. Thirty hours of watching will do that, I guess.

Something this series got right was how effectively it engaged Lucas's original characters, from Vader to Ahsoka. It felt like Star Wars without turning into a cameo fest. It's too bad the people making the movies weren't as sensible.

Super good. What an ending. I expected more deaths, was pleasantly surprised by how they sidestepped Ezra's.

I thought the time travel was a cop-out.

The time travel really didn't do anything but act as a temptation for Ezra. As far as Ahsoka goes, it was already hinted that she survived the destruction of the Sith temple. We saw someone walking away that might have been her in the season 2 finale. So nothing was really changed.

Right, but Ahsoka should not survive.  During the whole run of the Clone Wars cartoon, the eventuality that Anakin/Vader would kill Ahsoka is the the primary underlying tension between them.  They even hinted at it several times in dialogue and other stuff.  They ratcheted this up in Rebels, and then ruined the payoff.  I respect Dave Filoni, (I also think he gets the tone of Star Wars better than anyone not named Lucas) but I also think in this case he wanted to have his cake (A really great character who is immediately tragic because we know they don't survive) and eat it too (surprise, she survived!).

They had a similar cop-out in the novels with Asajj Ventriss.

Edit to add:  Can you imagine what people like Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams will do for the potential for Time Travel in Star Wars?  Just think about the retconning potential.  As soon as I saw that Rebels episode I shuddered.  Hopefully it's a one-time thing that doesn't get exploited again.

Iím a bit burnt out by the inevitable tragic deaths on shows like THE WALKING DEAD and GAME OF THRONES, so I appreciated that they didnít take that route with Ahsoka.
