There was a poll back in 2005, but it was a two-horse race between C-3PO and R2-D2. I thought one pertaining to all droids should be posted.

What's your favourite droid? ONE only, please, absolutely no ties, honourable mentions or contrivances. I don't want to see a "laundry list" of favourite droids from folk, I want folk to think long and hard about their favorite droid, hence why I tend to impose a limit in such topics.

Your droid can be from the films or Expanded Universe, whether they be a popular droid in countless films or one that appeared once in an obscure comic published in 1985.

K-2SO is my favourite. 'He' may not be the most visually appealing droid in SW, but I certainly like 'his' personality and quirks. So K-2SO is my choice.

R2D2

What's so impressive is how much character he is given
without ever speaking a word.

A bit like Jaws in James Bond, eh? ;-)

Just kidding, can't compare the two. Good point, though.

I confess, Brian, that I had to look that one up. I recognised the image, but hadn't associated that name with it.

R2-D2. I shed a a tear when Kenny Baker died. I actually became angry the other day thinking about how R2 has been pointlessly and insultingly Stalinized out of the new Star Wars movies.

I'm not sure about Stalinized, but as much as I like BB8, I do feel a lot of his bits and pieces could be replaced by R2.

Maybe with a wrench, by the light of red hot coals... :)

R2, but I could see why someone would love Chopper. That droid has heart.

Where's the love for my choice, K-2SO?

I'm very disappointed. ;-)

I liked the character, and Alan Tudyk was hilarious, but I hated the motion capture. I don't think droids should shrug their shoulders and make explainy gestures with their hands. I preferred Anthony Daniel's more limited articulation, which was sensibly robotic.

It will always be R2-D2.
For Christmas when I was 6 or 7, I gave my father an R2 as a gift. He was a project manager on the construction of VERY large buildings over the course of his career. . He put  R2 on his desk in the trailer they operated out of and it moved with him from site to site over the years, eventually settling in  at the "main office" when he began to work there instead of jobsites.

Very true, Bill. K-2SO doesn't come close as he's clearly a superior droid. ;-)
