A fresh start, and then they'll make all the same mistakes right off the bat.

Ask six Marvel fans what the "basics" are, get seven answers.

DC is culling their Rebirth titles with May 2018 solicitations released today. Many cancellations, etc....

Also, Jim Lee's The Immortal Men was delayed months, and it already has a fill in scheduled for #2./... the second issue.... of a book that has been delayed for months....and the first issue isn't out yet... unreal...

If the first issue isn't out until April, and the second issue isn't out until May, and its only February.... He should be able to pencil them both even if he hadn't started until TODAY.... let alone the 6+ month delay...

This industry is truly, truly on life support.

Black Panther sold how many millions of tickets worldwide? Yet the comic struggles to get 23,000 issues sold (and we know that sales does not = readers).

Guardians of the Galaxy = cancelled because of poor sales

Marvel's Netflix TV shows = comics cancelled because of low sales.

Its really starting to feel like its over. Maybe Im just extra grumpy today.

Delays on a Jim Lee title? Who'd have thought it? He's talented, but if I were starting up a publisher, and needed a regular artist, he would not be on my list.

I know that its not unexpected, but its crazy to think that titles announced in April 2017 for released on January 2018... have been delayed until April 2018... and even THEN there is a fill in artist with issue #2....

Just look at ALL-STAR BATMAN (the Miller/Lee title), originally monthly or maybe even bimonthly. Started in 2005. In 2006, *one* issue shipped all year. God knows what happened, but I gave up on principle. I am not sure they ever completed it. Maybe the arc will be completed in 2099.

EDIT: Whoever was to blame for the ALL-STAR BATMAN delays, and I have no specific knowledge, there was a reason it was plagued by delays (where was the editor?). So whoever was to blame, I was not pleased.

If more people -- including consumers -- still thought of it as an "industry" we might be in better shape. Alas, it's become a clubhouse where prima donnas want parades for just doing their jobs, and where "fans" have been brainwashed into equating tardiness with quality. "Growing roses."

I've just come up with a new, fresh, groundbreaking marketing plan. It's called "Back to the Beginning". I think I'll just go back and start re-reading digital comics starting from the true beginnings. FF #1, Avengers #1, X-Men #1, etc. Should keep me busy and happy til the end of my days.

"Growing roses?" You nailed it, JB.

Back when the Image boys were 'making waves', I felt that it would set a standard for the future where deadlines, continuity, characterizations, etc. would take a back seat to superstar artists (and later, writers.) and the industry would never be the same. Lots of money made, but the industry would suffer soon enough.

At this point, groundbreaking would be going back to the OLD system of producing comic books.

Anyway “back to basics” includes Wakanda as an intergalactic empire...ghost rider as an avenger... can’t wait to see what else is their version of back to basics...
