(When I told Walt Simonson about this his immediate response was "Who are you, and what have you done with John Byrne?!")

Holy shit!

I made a vow to stay far away from "Fan BO Expo" for the past few years because it's an absolute sweltering nuthouse to navigate.   I kind of wish they just stuck to just comics and Sci-fi (TV and film) and not spill over into video games, anime, horror, and people selling homemade macaroni art.

I would heavily consider breaking that vow and facing hordes of unwashed armpits for The Chief and The Captain.

Yes, I would.

Rob!
I laughed at the homemade macaroni art bit, but downplay the 'hordes of unwashed armpits' stuff! We don't want to remind JB of why he doesn't do cons anymore.

Indeed, let him believe this is a good idea, at least until I stuff him into my kidnapping sack. Have you seen the movie MISERY?
Until then lets keep it positive. Thank you sir.

Okay, here's your "badge," good for both cons. Remember, white shirts, black slacks, black shoes with white laces. . .

Nice!

I'm tempted to enlarge it to poster-size and wear it like a sandwich board.

I may have a hard time finding white laces, but what colour should our capes be?
:)

...black shoes with white laces. . .

Unless they’re Vans or Chuck Taylor’s, that might not be the best
suggestion for a “uniform”...

Black slacks in Boston, in August??  I made that mistake years ago... unless I'm at work, I only wear shorts in New England, in the summertime!  :)

The only thing about this that kind of sucks for me personally is both of these cons are sandwiching Wizard World Chicago and I don't know if can get that much vacation time off work that close together.

My wife would love to see Boston too.

Been off the JBF for a couple weeks. Went to London. Decided to catch up today. Looks like I need to plan a trip to Boston in August......love that badge, JB!

Really wish I could make it to either of these conventions. Two absolute legends in their respective fields.

Why are you all choosing Boston over Toronto?  One US dollar buys about $1.30 Canadian these days.  Come on up and get a break from all of America's ills!

NO!
I don't want MORE people standing in line in front of me!
Everybody stay away.

So yesterday I attended the Niagara Falls Comic Con and met with Ty Templeton, Michael Golden and Neal Adams.*

It was very enjoyable, but I was infused with the notion that it was all just a warm-up to meet John Byrne. Very glad to get this chance.

* I bought a sketchbook that Neal personalized to me. I previously met him at FanExpo Toronto a few years back and got a Superman print signed and a photo taken, which I posted here on the forum, as a matter of fact.

Michael Golden signed a print of his 1980s Marvel poster. As a kid I sent away for it after seeing the ad in a comic but it never arrived in the mail. I explained to him that I've wanted it for over 30 years, and he revealed that Sal Q Productions (publisher of The Art Of John Byrne I recall) most likely never did mail it out at all. Allegedly :)

All this to say that while I've never really craved autographs, I've enjoyed my experiences while meeting comic professionals. Now I hope I don't make a gibbering fool of myself when it really matters.

I'm just going to sit here and be boggled over the concept of NEAL ADAMS being considered a "warm up" to meeting me!!!

I will be going to Boston, exclusively for this, John. I will be travelling with our mutual friend, Kevin.

••

Okay, I have been racking my brain, and I cannot think of a Kevin I know, at least not in this context. Who is this?

Question for JB:

The limited edition omnibus for signing at the events is an excellent idea, could you please share any info here when you know more? (contents, exclusive cover, etc.)
Thanks!

If you're creating new artwork for the cover, it should be you and -Bill- (!) in Star Fleet uniforms.
Captain Kirk and Ensign or Admiral Byrne!
