"I loved Nex Men [sic]. I do not think it was a vanity project even if it went on a bit long. It is what JB needed to say, and the art and writing are simply unsurpassed"
------------------------------------- This reminds me of the Emperor in Amadeus.
"Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all."
As for no major Hollywood films without JB... Hard to see how to tackle this without first making a few assumptions, as you clearly can't mean what you literally say.
So I'm assuming you don't mean 'no major Hollywood films' cos they were clearly loads before JB was even born. I'm also going to assume you don't even mean major DC films, as Superman the Movie was a hit before JB had done any work for DC.
If we narrow it down to Marvel movies... Maybe just maybe. An argument could be made that it was the success of the X-Men movie in 2000 that allowed all that was to follow, and that JB's work on UXM was the foundation on which the later successes of that title, and hence that movie, were laid.
But at the same time, there are so many storytellers over the years who have made a significant contribution to the well from which the Marvel movies draw their water. Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Roy Thomas, Don Heck, John Buscema, Jim Starlin... Try making a Marvel movie without using any of their contributions (and that's just a few names from a very long list).
