"That said, every Honda I or my parents have owned
(about 10 or so over the years) has been completely
trouble free."

My father-in-law had an Accord ('96, I think) that he
traded in just shy of 1,000,000 km. It's currently
sitting on a showroom floor somewhere here in Nova
Scotia, I believe.

I loved the PT Cruiser when it first came out, just for the looks of it. Reminded me of my Uncle's 1948 Chevy. Then I sat in one. I have a very long torso and the slope of the roof meant that, although I had headroom, the roof sloped down so much I could not see out of the window. All I could see was the roof. Very disappointing. Since my last car was a 1968 Nova (I ride motorbikes), headroom has not been a problem.

Edit: To be fair, it was not my car so I didn't adjust the seat height. Although I find lots of modern cars don't go down very far, the Cruiser might be different.

John, maybe you can get a cheaper repair, if you use a more creative method, like these:

*Edited for note: To make the link work, copy it and unite the word creative when pasted.

As soon GM dumped the Pontiac line and stopped carrying parts anywhere in Canada, I ditched my Pontiac Vibe and bought a Honda. Had it for twice as long and half the trouble so I am now a Honda believer :)
