I enjoyed this article:

This part touched me the most:

When things are as they are in Afghanistan, cricket transcends from being merely a sport to being a source of happiness and hope for a whole nation. Therein lies the essence of this story.

On a different note, isn't it about time the United States had a cricket team? I'd love to see a cricket match between the UK and US.

Cricket would not go over well in the U.S.

Baseball has been taking a hit over the last few years for having games lasting too long. With an average of about 3 hours MLB is constantly tinkering with ways to shorten the game.

With Cricket matches lasting for days and each day around 6 hours of play it might be a tough sell in the U.S.

Although I have always wanted to play , myself.

There is Twenty20 Cricket, a much shorter game (three hours or less). It has proven fairly popular for those that don't want to follow a game for days.

I've only attended one cricket match in my life. It was too long to be in one place. I should have inserted a catheter.

I always used to joke that the most boring job in the world must be a cricket umpire. ;-)
