The cover of Action Comics #1000 was released just a bit ago and the red trunks are coming back.
They've also released a list of creators who will contribute to the book "with more to be announced."
Despite all that's happened with DC, I hope JB will be part of that celebration. His contribution to Superman rebuilt the guy from the ground up and what Superman is today rests largely on his foundation. That has to be respected.

I'm glad the trunks will return.

I agree with all that you posted, particularly your last three sentences.

I am truly sorry to hear that, JB. Your Superman is, to me, the clearest and best interpretation of the character since Siegel and Shuster.

It would have been nice to see JB draw Superman again. His Superman is
my comicbook Superman.

Agreed... this "celebration" isn't complete without JB. His contributions to the character are STILL seen today!

Still, I hope this leads other DC heroes getting their classic looks back!

It is not a question of personal tastes; JB's run was a very important milestone in the history of Superman. It's a mistake that he is not in.

I'm sorry that you won't be on board for Action Comics #1000. I enjoyed your original run very much during my early college years. It will be their loss.

Happy to hear that the trunks are coming back. Superman never looked right without them.

Mine too. It's a shame that our host is not involved.

Glad to see the trunks back. Superheroes (especially Superman) shouldn't run away from superhero conventions. Dump the battle armor with visible seams and piping, keep secret identities secret, let the bad guys have normal aspirations of robbing banks or conquering the world, and let superheroes be super.

Are we absolutely sure that the trunks are coming back? Is there a link to the announcement?

Personally I'm fine with the red belt and yellow "buckle," but if the trunks are coming back, I'm happy.

But who really needs the trunks back is Batman. His costume looks wholly incomplete without black trunks.

I'm sad that JB isn't on the roster for ACTION #1000 but at least these days Superman is being written as "the John Byrne Superman" (with a wife and a kid, yes, but his personality is mostly the same). He's an Earth person first and a Kryptonian second. And he's a mature adult.

Adam Schulman I agree Batman needs his trunks I always thought the new 52 batman was either wearing coveralls or full body underwear and would not be surprised if there was a flap in back (thank goodness for the cape)
