I once heard someone say they would not eat anything that was ever alive.

The "Raw Water" craze was a segment on last night's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Having lived in a few foreign countries, where the tap water wasn't necessarily filtered, or held to any particular standard (other than "If it's clear, you can drink it"), I can attest to the fact that this is a BAD idea.

I've known people who developed serious lifelong gastrointestinal problems as a direct result of having consumed pathogen-filled water.
In some cases, once those little buggers are in your system, they can be extremely difficult to eradicate.

I enjoy, from time to time, reminding "strict vegetarians" that they are consuming millions of microscopic animals every time they eat a salad.

😈

"I once heard someone say they would not eat anything that was ever alive."

That rules out animals and vegetables. But I guess they get their minerals...

I have no issue with what anyone eats or drinks. As always, I don't care what people do as long as they're not hurting someone else. But couldn't they just SHUT UP about it? Drinking "raw water" is their own choice... inflicting it on their families IS hurting someone else, and that's where I object. Can a seven year old really complain about it? Is a child susceptible to intense dysentery? Or some other related digestive crisis? Are adults not aware of what they're doing to their own children???

I figured she was too far gone to call her on it. I think I just rolled my eyes and started talking with someone else.

Reminds me of the SECRET WARS II issue where the Beyonder decides to kill Death, and as a result, nothing was able to die. Someone explained the problem with his harebrained scheme with "What are we supposed to eat? Rocks?"

I was 12 when that came out, and I have to admit that up until that point I had not considered that.
