Watched the first episode USS Callister, after seeing the
pictures well in advance i was intrigued by how they
were going to treat this 60`s Star Trek inspired
episode.From lighting,set/costume design and Jesse
Plemons` Shatner-esque performance all were
recognisably 60`s Trek.To avoid spoilers i`ll say no
more, but i thoroughly enjoyed the episode.

Can't wait to watch this whole series over the weekend. I've heard the Star Trek parody gets really dark. Then again, with Black Mirror I'd be surprised if wasn't dark. This reminds me, I've been watching the hour long episodes of season 4 of Black Mirror's inspiration Twilight Zone on CBS All Access. I've seen most of the thirty minute ones over the years, but none of the hour long season 4 episodes as they aren't regularly shown as they don't fit the mold of the other 4 seasons in length. I know season four of Twilight Zone is not most fans favorite season, but I'm kind of enjoying getting the extra time with each story so far. I'm only a few episodes in though.

I've only seen the first episode but I thought it was apt way of showing the difference in people's "real life" personality vs. their online one. By the way, read this article about the making of it and it's a pretty good read. Don't read it if you haven't watched the episode or plan to watch it as there be spoilers.

Instant crush on Georgina Campbell. I might have to watch that Syfy Superman prequel KRYPTON because apparently she's playing a member of the Zod family.

Time to rank them? For me it's:

Kill the DJ
USS Callister
Black Museum
Metalhead
Arkangel
Crocodile

I finished the season.

I mostly thought each one was as powerful as the other. The weakest being ‘Arkangel’.  But even that was intriguing enough.

Bravo.

I'm a big fan of Black Mirror, from the days when S1 could only be seen on YouTube in the States. I was pretty disappointed with S4. I think we are past peak Black Mirror. Here's my ranking:

1. USS Callister (#1 by a wide margin, I loved it)
2. The Black Museum (benefitted from being 3 vignettes with a tie-together theme, also super-disturbing in classic Black Mirror fashion)
3. Crocodile (I liked the neo-noir type of story, I didn't mind how far they went with it, but it should have been 20 minutes shorter)
4. Metalhead (stylish and moves quickly, but Terminator did it better 33 years ago)
5. Arkangel (boring, silly, and another story that would have worked better if it was 20 minutes shorter)
6. Hang the DJ (possibly the worst of all 19 Black Mirror episodes, utterly pointless & rubbish, would have worked better as a 60-second commercial for an online dating service, and I say this having loved San Junipero [I'm not a totally heartless bastard])

My rankings:

Black Museum
USS Callister
Arkangel
Crocodile
Metalhead
Kill the DJ

Although there really wasn't a bad episode in the bunch. Had a British female friend talking about how she didn't like Black Mirror as much because it didn't have as much of the dark British humor it had when it was on Channel 4 to give it a broader appeal for American audiences since moving to Netflix and international. Not sure if she's watching the same show I am, but it's certainly still dark and there is still some humor there, although yes it's probably decidedly less British overall. As for the humor, there wasn't any in Metalhead or Crocodile (although it was chock full of irony) but it was certainly there in Arkangel and USS Callister.

Agreed. It wasn't engaging enough for me. I found myself not caring about the characters. Shame, really, as the concept was a sound one.

As Jeremy stated, it would have worked better if it had been twenty minutes shorter.

I liked all of ‘em but “Crocodile” and “Metalhead” were my least
favorites.

I enjoyed this season but I feel the ideas are starting to repeat themselves. "Callister" had some "White Christmas" elements, "Hang the Dj"-"San Junipero", "Crocodile"-"Entire History of You", etc.

Maybe Charlie Brooker should invite other writers aboard, he's great but I don't think one person can come up with 6 original ideas per year with the same quality as those of the first two seasons.

My episode ranking, not one episode this year deserves to be in the "pantheon" in my opinion:

Season 4:

1) Hang The DJ
2) USS Callister
3) Metalhead
4) Arkangel
5) Crocodile
6) Black Museum

All Seasons:

1) 15 Million Merits
2) Be Right Back
3) The Entire History of You
4) San Junipero
5) White Christmas
