Panthers
Ravens
Lions
Colts
Bills
Vikings
Patriots
Redskins
Cowboys
Steelers (Browns will be 0-16!)
Saints
Jaguars
Chiefs
Broncos
Raiders
Rams
Cardinals

Picking the Colts over the Texans was a gut call. Considering the Texans just got a buttwhipping....

The 49ers shouldn't have won this week. They have the Titans' mistakes and a bad call by the refs on what should have been a turnover to thank for their win this week. Won't be as lucky versus the Rams.

The Packers shouldn't have bothered reactivating Rodgers. He should have stayed on the bench to get healthier. Green Bay won't make the playoffs, and it would be stupid not to put him back on the bench.

I'm not picking the Cowboys over Eagles because I'm a Cowboys fan. I'm picking them because although both teams barely managed to win over bad teams this week, the Eagles almost lost to one of the worst teams in the league. On the other hand, if Wentz was healthy and playing, I'd be picking the Eagles.

Seattle *might* beat the Cardinals, but I don't think it'll happen. Depends on whether the Seahawks show up....or the Seachickens do.

Final regular season picks...
  • Panthers at Falcons

  • Bengals at Ravens

  • Packers at Lions

  • Texans at Colts

  • Bills at Dolphins

  • Bears at Vikings

  • Jets at Patriots - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!

  • Redskins at Giants

  • Cowboys at Eagles

  • Browns at Steelers

  • Saints at Buccaneers

  • Jaguars at Titans

  • Chiefs at Broncos

  • Raiders at Chargers

  • 49ers at Rams

  • Cardinals at Seahawks

Not a ton to disagree with.  Wish I could have disagreed with all 16 just to make it fun, but I couldn't.  My single disagree is based on the Pats in Foxboro.  Maybe if it was away it would matter, but I think the Pats get it done at home.  Otherwise there's too many teams still playing for seeding that there are no "resting players" this year.

    *****
Among other tihings, the Garoppolo move looks pretty good with the Niners winning their last five and six of seven since starting 0-9.

Well, Kevin Brown's strategery paid off!  He was the only one to take the Bucs over the Saints.  Given that the Saints played their starters and still lost to a 4-11 team, I gotta give this one a little extra juice:

And Brian Floyd gave the twelfth man a big raspberry and took the Cardinals over the Seahawks.  Well done, sir:

And now we must admit our ignominy:

The resurgent 49ers Charlie Brown'd us by whupping the playoff-bound Rams in Los Angeles (not that big a surprise), and the Bengals stunned the playoff-aspirant Ravens with a huge 49-yard TD pass on 4th and 12 with less than a minute to play.  Most of those yards were after the catch.  Just amazing.

    For the season:

    Allan Summerall Week 4, 5, 6, 11, 14

    Doug Centers Week 3, 6, 9(*2)

    Kevin Brown Week 4, 12, 14, 17

    Brian Floyd Week 1, 16, 17

    Brad Brickley Week 3

    Matt Reed Week 11

    Kevin M. Hagerman Week 12

So Allan Summerall had the most, with Doug Centers and Kevin Brown tied for second.  Brian Floyd gets a respectable 3, finishing particularly strong, and then there's the stragglers with one each: Brad Brickley, Matt Reed, and yours truly.

Then there's the, ahem, less prestigious matter of Charlie Browns:

The Panthers are the clear winner here, especially for pulling one of those down against the Patriots in Week 4.

    PANTHERS Week 3, 4, 5, 14

    BILLS Week 3, 4

    BEARS Week 3

    REDSKINS Week 3

    STEELERS Week 6

    GIANTS Week 11

    49ERS Week 17

    BENGALS Week 17

  • I go 7-9 on the week and 1-0 v Hagerman.  For the season I'm 175-78 and 45-25 v Hagerman.

    Going into the playoffs/offseason:
    • Chargers do everything they can to make it, yet come up short.
    • The Chickens are due for a major overhaul and it won't be pretty.
    • The Rams and Eagles look vulnerable in the NFC.
    • So too do the Saints (playing their starters and losing to the Bucs) and the Panthers (ditto)
    • All that said, the AFC is the easy road, the NFC is going to be tough but...
    • The Vikes have the clearest shot of any team in the Superbowl era to play the final game in their home stadium.  SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!

8-8 and it's been that kind of NFL season for me, never getting quite on track. 157-99 overall; I missed my French nemesis Philippe!  At least the Patriots are playing decently, if not as consistently as last year.  It's been a transitional season with some younger QBs stepping up like Goff and Garoppolo and Wentz but as often seems to happen, vets like Brees, Brady, Roethlisberger, Alex Smith and Matt Ryan are hovering around the top and running still-viable playoff teams.  Many are sick of NE and Brady but I feel like at 40 this may be his last best shot (Roethlisberger will be 36 in March so this could be one of his best remaining chances too).  The NFC has gotten better with the Rams, Vikings, Eagles and Saints all making solid improvements and those teams will all be interesting to watch.  I do feel there are one or two clear favorites in each conference but that's why they play the games.  The next two weeks of football are typically my favorites of the entire year so I can't wait!
