No form of technology would ever confuse me with Milla Jovovich.

No, see, the moire patterns on the glasses hypnotize the viewer into thinking that the wearer looks milder and more frail than is the truth... but they only work with Kryptonian plastic...
Someday, Marty Pasko... someday... TO THE MOON!.

Someday, Marty Pasko... someday... TO THE MOON!.•• Don't blame Marty. According to him, he did not want to do that story, but Julie Schwartz insisted.

Blame Al Schroeder III for the idea! To be fair, that story was one of the first comics I ever had, so there is some nostalgia tied to it...but even Mort Weisinger would have laughed at how contrived it was.

I liked it better when it was Clark's mannerisms that prevented anyone from realizing he's Superman, and the glasses were just part of the act.

I like it more when no one really cared who Superman was, or even IF he had a secret identity; I don't recall he ever admitted in public that he "hid out" as a civilian.
I know it makes a good story hook, but realistically, why would anyone want to know who a super hero is? Kurt Busiek did a story in Astro City where a criminal sees a hero change to his secret identity - and realizes that there's nothing he can do with that information.
I believe the pre-Crisis take on it was a Cary Bates story, :"The Amazing Return of Jonathan Kent" where Pa Kent reveals Superman's Clark identity to Lois - who doesn't seem to react. After Superman leaves, he asks her why she isn't surprised. Lois answers, "How do you know I haven't known all along, and just haven't said anything?:"
That works for me. And I take back sending Pasko to the moon.

I like the idea that some cast members either know and act like they don't, or just plain don't want to know or care.
Seems pretty obvious to me that Commissioner Gordon knows Batman is Bruce Wayne, but doesn't admit to knowing.

Featuring the less-than-unforgettable 'classic' Batman villain, the Spellbinder.

That’s one of those bad ideas best forgotten like Bruce Wayne’s older brother Thomas or Jor-El and Lara still alive but floating through space in suspended animation.

Eric S. - wait, what the...?
Eric Smeaman, the events you cited are sometimes known as Mopees... events that didn't really occur, or that happened on "Earth-B". It's named after the fifth-dimensional (or wherever) imp named Mopee that appeared in a story in The Flash. Mopee indicated that HE caused the accident that turned Barry Allen into the Flash. It was roundly and entirely dismissed as a "nah, that never happened" story.
I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'm going to start another one about Our Favorite Mopees... don't miss it. Coming soon to a forum near you.
