His famed character was a yokel, but he was a class act.

Sad news.

A lot more talented than people knew.

Once again, admitting I thought he was already gone.

Condolences to his friends and loved ones.

I enjoyed Jim Nabors' Gomer Pyle on both ANDY GRIFFITH and GOMER PYLE
USMC. My condolences to his fans, family and friends.

(Did Mr. Nabors really die thirteen years before his birth though?)

I fixed the thread title, Wallace. Some significant part of my brain refuses to believe I'm out of the 20th century!

“Citizen’s arrest!” is still one of the funniest things to ever be on television.

GOMER PYLE USMC was a big part of my TV watching growing up.

Sadly, I also thought he was already gone.

RIP

Indeed!

I have all of the ANDY GRIFFITH episodes on DVD, so may pull that one out to
rematch later this month.

Nabors was in the news a few years ago, for a doing a 'farewell' nightclub gig, and for retiring as the singer of 'Back Home Again in Indiana' at the Indy 500. So, at least he was able to end his career on his own terms.
