Inspired by similar topics, I'd like to ask you all to come up with ***ONE*** person you'd have liked to have seen join the Defenders, whether short-term or long-term.

The roster changed over times (due to them being a "non-team"), but we're all familiar with Dr. Strange, Hulk, Namor, Valkyrie, Silver Surfer, Power Man, Nighthawk, Hellcat and a few others. So your choice should be someone who hasn't served (I know it can be hard to have omnipotent knowledge of comics; if you choose Hulk, that'd be silly, but if you choose someone with sincerity, that is fine).

One member only, please. No ties, honourable mentions, etc.

And try to make them heroes - or at least not total villains. I realize some heroes blur the lines, but I'm not sure Punisher would ever be invited to be a Defender.

My choice would be Captain America.

The Defenders comics I read featured a lot of supernatural threats. They faced some heavy-hitters. I would have been intrigued by seeing Cap in the Defender (maybe after leaving the Avengers on bad terms). I'd have loved the interaction between him and Strange, Hulk, Valkyrie. I can picture the art in my head.

Cap, in some ways, would have been a "fish out of water". A lot of his opponents over time have been sci-fi threats or reliant on brute strength. Or dictators. Having Cap show up on Strange's doorstep, and helping the team battle mystical threats, might have been fun in a "fish out of water" way.

Over to you.

Machine Man would've fit in in the "not fitting in" sort of way I think.

Magik - I just think Illyana would fit right in with the Defenders and I'd love to see her interact with a Defenders team that has Hellstrom in it.

All great ideas, folks. I think the Defenders could accommodate almost anyone, but particularly troubled people or loners.

I would have liked seeing Spider-Woman as a member of the Defenders. I think she's potent enough a hero with sufficiently different abilities, another female because why not another female, and I think the (possible) romantic dynamic with Nighthawk could have been quite fun.

I think Daredevil would have been a perfect fit with the Defenders, but I don't recall him ever showing up.  (He and Nighthawk had some history, so that would have been fun to explore.)

I second Spider-Woman.  (Nice to see her and Daredevil at the same time.)

You may be right, but I recall the Defenders' poster from the Marvel Pin-up Book I had a kid definitely included him. Curiously, Yellow Jacket was also featured. Was he ever a Defender?
