Ehh...

My only big gripe with THE FLASH is that too many people know Barry's secret identity.

This year's Arrowverse crossover will not only introduce Ruby Rose's Batwoman, but it's now been announced that the three-night event will also see the return of Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and the debut of Lois Lane.

***

I'm hoping against hope that Hoechilin will be wearing something much closer to the traditional Superman costume. I expect to be disappointed.

Ehhh....

Not thrilled about the casting, but not bothered by it, either.

Jenna Dewan would have made a better Lois than Lucy.

(By the way, Jenna is older than Elizabeth by about a month and a half.)

DC announced that the three night Arrowverse crossover beginning December 9th is titled Elseworlds. (?)

Also, LaMonica Garrett (best known for his work on "Designated Survivor") has been cast as The Monitor, who helped the heroes of alternate earths battle the evil Anti-Monitor in the DC Comics crossover event Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Interesting....

I believe we saw in the Flash that the Crisis is in 2024... unless I'm misremembering.

Of course, it affected ALL times... so sure, it could happen in 2018 too. Maybe we'll even get a few more Legionnaires.

I'll give the show credit. They keep coming up with things that make me want to watch. I don't, but they still almost get me there.

How funny would it be if Cryer played this with a dead-on Hackman impersonation?

Iím not sure if a Hackmanesque Luthor fits with the Lex in Lenaís backstory, but Iíd be willing to put money on Cryerís Luthor humming or listening to Eine kleine Nachtmusik at some point.

Let's hope he's better in this than he was playing Lex Luthors nephew in Superman IV. His "performance" was probably the biggest crime in that film.

Cryer probably played that part the way it was written. It was just a terribly written part. The intent seems to have been for Lenny to be Superman IV's "Otis," an overtly comical buffoon Lex keeps around mainly as contrast to his own, immeasurable genius. The result is something much, much worse.

In his autobiography, I believe that Cryer said he signed on to Superman IV to work with top-level stars like Hackman in a major movie franchise and did so without seeing a script, which is never wise.

Even if he'd known, I don't think there's any way to have played that part without looking ridiculous.

Yes, the script was problematic (to say the least) but that doesn't change my opinion of Cryer and his acting abilities. Over the years, the only role I liked him in was when he played Ducky back in Pretty in Pink. I'll give him a chance, certainly, but I'm not overly optimistic.

Jon Cryer doesn't look menacing or even tough enough to play Lex Luthor.

But he'll probably be a better Luthor than Jesse Eisenberg....

Supergirl Season 3 Ep 10... Wow! This is great (comic book based) writing now! I love that there are some nasty government people out to 'control' Kara down to threatening her family members, and meanwhile Lena and James are also dealing with 'do the ends justify any means'! Also recognized some of the coastline where they shot the one scene with that ship; bonus. I hope the quality can stay up there. Also maybe tone down the comedic angle to Braniac a little, but sometimes it works for me.

Braniac's levity is a little off beat, but I'm starting yo get used to it.

That sock Alex threw at Col. Haley and what she said after, was awesome!

I'm actually excited to see the next episode, which I haven't really felt since after the first one.

They overplayed the anti-alien backlash a bit I felt, it got from near zero to ten really fast, I'd have bought in a bit more of it had been more subtle, but I expect it will still be part of the show and the anti-alien people more underground or guarded. It has some understandable elements of course, if it was your house that got smashed because two powerful non-humans were doing their thing, and then your company hired a person with two heads and eight arms I guess... man, what's with all these aliens sucking up my air? One cut me off in traffic the other day like they owned the roads! :^)

The Russian puppet is obviously timely too, and yet I'm hooked to see where that goes!

I understand CW has renewed all the DC Universe shows for next season: Arrow, Black Lightning, Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl. The pilot show for Batwoman is supposed to be filmed (I think) in March or April.

lol.

Jesse Eisenberg's version of Luthor was more or less `Rich, less crazy Joker without the disfigurement'. There was barely any real Lex Luthor in that character at all.

Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are now engaged.

It's sad to see this show, which I've really enjoyed, being turned into a thinly disguised political pulpit for the writers.  I don't know if that's their actual intent or not but it's so heavy-handed now that it's certainly coming across that way.

I enjoy these shows for the fun escapism. When they start taking a tone that feels more like preachy indoctrination, they are no longer fun.

Thatís exactly why I quit all of the DC CW shows, Brandon. SUPERGIRL was (and no doubt continues to be) the worst offender.

And this forced preachiness keeps happening to characters and franchises that I love, turning them into poorly-written propaganda instead of good stories about compelling characters. Iíve said it before, and Iíll say it again: Trumpís election drove Hollywood insane, and now theyíre burning all of the great franchises to the ground because they feel backed into a corner. So sad.

The last series of Doctor Who was as bad.

óó

Iím a bit confused. What show have you been watching? The show has always been overtly political, even back when it was on CBS. Cat Grant was used as a mouthpiece for political commentary all the time. The aliens as refugees theme has been going on in the second season, and the Agent Liberty storyline is just a culmination of that.

I get that itís not everyoneís cup of tea, but it hasnít been turned into anything. Itís always been political.

Yeah, for the most part the storylines or backup stories have had a sociopolitical undertone to them, it's part of the package with this show.

But not all of the DC/CW shows are as serious. Give LEGENDS a try, pure fun!
