I think it's fine to talk about this stuff in the abstract, and "off the record", so to speak. When people start insisting that it become canonical, though...

I believe I've developed a reputation for super-nerdy attention to detail, but I draw the line at the details getting in the way of good storytelling and characterization. Myopic focus on unimportant details is not a good foundation for fun storytelling.

Trivia: the word "punctual" originally meant overly focused on unimportant detail.
