Vulture has an article about unused spec scripts that TV writers submitted for Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, including one from forum member Marc Guggenheim.

Oh my.  I'm not a TV writer, but I sent a DS9 spec script (in hindsight, riddled with cliches!) to the Paramount offices sometime in 1995 or 1996.  Dare I click on this link...?

(EDIT:  Okay, only about presently-established TV writers... whew!)

I recall the producers of Enterprise saying they had a large stack of spec scripts where Archer's dog Porthos saves the day by being the only one who can communicate with some new alien life form.
