Keep in mind that in 1983, Ordway's face for Superman would not necessarily be what he drew in 1988, after the reboot, or even later in 2011 (such as the pic I linked to).

I'm with Matt on this one. The torso musculature looks like Ordway or Mike Zeck to me. Regarding the face, it is possible another artist is responsible for changes or redrawing the facial expression on the pencils. Although, that presumes heavy art duty on something slatted to be a puzzle.

It seems quite clearly to be Ordway inks... his distinctive linework seems apparent in the musculature.  It's quite possible the pencils are by someone else though, particularly since Ordway worked primarily as an inker up until early 1983 or so... I don't recall him getting any penciling jobs before then.

I'm not sure who drew that picture, but I like it.

I agree, Wallace.

Eric, Mike Zeck was a Marvel man at this point. I do agree that it's likely another artist make changes to the face. There is still that little touch Ordway does in the corner of a character's mouth which I pointed out in another post.

Jason,  while Ordway was primarily an inker at that point, it's possible that he might have been hired to do a full drawing for a licensed product like this one.

Rodrigo, Lopez has a style I can spot easily, and his work was commonly used for licensing by DC. I don't see this as his work.

Using Google,  the pose, or one very close to it, is a common one for Ordway. A 2011 drawing by Ordway, which I have linked to in an above post, has Superman in virtually the same pose, even punching away at a similar kind of space debris.

I've see enough details that are close to what Ordway has in his work, particularly during the period,  and seen enough examples of him usin a similar pose to convince me it is Ordway's art. There really isn't anyone else at DC in 1983 whose style that matches.

Now, there is the possibility that being it was a licensed product, it was some unknown commercial artist, but it sure looks like the work of a comics professional.

Btw, is Jerry Ordway accessible online? Maybe we could reach him and ask him directly?

I would bet that Jerry Ordway at least inked it. The rubble Superman is punching looks like Ordway rendering. Could be someone like Ed Barreto or Jose Luis Garcia Lopez pencilled it.

Definitely inked by Ordway. I'm thinking maybe Mike Machlan pencilled
it?

Checked with Jerry Ordway on Twitter. He pencilled, inked and colored
this.
