Found this interesting clip online. They selected a Byrne image of Wonder Woman at 2:42. I felt that image was out of place and didn't match the topic of the clip, but otherwise interesting to watch.

I always thought this Paul Ryan Invisible Woman costume was pretty crazy as a kid.

It was the %20 problem.  That indicates a hexadecimal space inserted there.

That use of JB's Wonder Woman as an example of hyper-sexualization is, well, to quote from "Friends": ...you could not be more wrong... you could try... but you would not be successful.

Somewhere along the line, I got branded as one of the ones who over-sexualized the female characters. A lot of this came about as a result of the She-Hulk book, where the hyper-zaftig nature of the character (not my doing) made just about anything she did or said seem to have a sexual subtext.

Crusaders will always crusade!

That Invisible Woman costume is so far off the mark it's staggering that it was allowed. The official transformation of Sue into a MILF.

sigh

The Invisible Woman has an unusually narrow waist in that pic above.  I don't claim to be an anatomy expert, but is there even enough room in there for all her internal organs?

Nope - welcome to the 90s!

JB can draw women who are both attractive, AND have room for internal organs.  I don't know why others can't.

Okay, the two things I got out of that video are:

1. Everything was exaggerated in the 90's.

2. And it's the Image guys' fault.

At least they were fair and mentioned that men were drawn out of proportion as well.  They were unfair to include John Byrne's slender, athletic Wonder Woman or (right after mentioning unrealistic proportions) Terry Dodson's healthy Harley Quinn (not to call him a tracer, but I'm sure he uses some pretty good reference!).

I'm glad I moved into the Independents in the 90's.  (I notice no mention of all the realistic people comics that came out at the time.)  It seems that the mainstream was a real wasteland at the time.  (I hardly ever see anything from that time period in the back issue boxes that I want.)

I think JB's Wonder Woman is pretty tame
compared to Mike Deodato's butt floss
Artemis. I've loved that JB draws sexy
women without making it porn. Take
Aurora's yellow costume. She had more
covered than many women in comics. But, at
age 13, I thought she was drawn so sexy,
that if I were in that world, I would've
ridden that crazy train all the way to
therapy.

JB's women always seem natural and real, not posing super models or porn stars.  Probably because he understands anatomy.
