I enjoyed the first half of this show, but by episode 6 I found myself wanting them to be less precious with the info about the mist. With the show's title I got surprised by how much was hinted at, but was avoided until the very end. It all came off the rails for me on episode 8. So much contrived and convenient reality writing turned me way off. I suffered through the last two episodes after getting completely turned off on episode 8 hoping for some level of redemption. It didn't come. So proceed as you like, but I wouldn't recommend this one.

This series was all shot near to me. Quite a few locations are under 20km from my house. And now I need to actually watch it...

Does it actually have the bugs from King's story, or is it something else in the mist?

I liked the first 6 episodes, but had trouble getting through episode 7. The rest of the show is sitting on my DVR.

Michael, if you can walk away without issue then do it. Episode 8 had me angry with all the convenient improbability. I think they missed a great opportunity with the show. It set things up nicely, but bobbled the ball and eventually fumbled hard. I'm not sure it got a second season, but it ended with lots of loose ends.

Doug,in episode 1 there are insects featured a
lot, making you think they are foreshadowing what`s to
come, unfortunately we go 8 episodes without finding out
exactly what is in the mist!
