JB contributed to today's Funky Winkerbean Sunday page (along with Tom Batiuk and Rick Burchett!!)

Very cool! And being inked by Joe Giella is pretty awesome.  I can't recall if he's ever inked JB before. Has he?

It's interesting how JB's short stint on FW (I think it was 6 weeks? And holy CRAP that was 14 years ago!) had a lasting effect on Tom Batiuk's art. His style became much more serious-looking (with a hefty Byrne influence to boot) immediately after that.

Tom asked me to do those FUNKY strips in part because he wanted to change the direction of his art. He even had me do model sheets for a flock of upcoming new characters.

A long road from when I slipped Funky onto the splash of a Spider-Man comic.

This is so cool, JB!

You all can get Funky on a daily basis by following Tom Batiuk's excellent comic strip at:

I just spent a few minutes googling FUNKY. Wow! Things sure have changed since "my day"! And, yes, I can definitely see my ghost lurking in those panels.
