Matt I'll take the odd weeks this year.

Thursday, September 7

  • Chiefs at Patriots - Chiefs can compete with New England.  But c'mon.  It's New England, in Foxboro, Opening Day, Prime Time.

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills - Oof.  It is a division game, though.

  • Falcons at Bears - All I'm gonna say is Falcons special teams looked awful versus the Steelers in pre-season, and I do not think it is because the Steelers' special teams are great.  But I'm still going with the team that won (the wrong) 75% of the Super Bowl.

  • Ravens at Bengals - Go Ravens!  I feel dirty now.

  • Steelers at Browns - This is exactly the kind of game the Steelers lose.

  • Cardinals at Lions - Could be a good one.

  • Jaguars at Texans

  •

  • Raiders at Titans

  • Eagles at Redskins - Another possible good one.

  • Colts at Rams - Ew

  • Seahawks at Packers - Definitely a good game.

  • Panthers at 49ers

  • Giants at Cowboys - This one could be huge.  The NFC East is sorta exciting.

Monday, September 11

  • Saints at Vikings - No idea how this one will turn out.

  • Chargers at Broncos - No DOUBT how this one will turn out.

[edited to remove postponed Bucs/Fins]

Well, the Bears are starting Glennon and not Trubisky.....  Oh wait, not what you meant.

Never mind.

Anyway, to the picks!

Thursday, September 7

  • Chiefs at Patriots   It won't even be close

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills    And with this game, the Jets will start tanking to to grab the #1 pick.
  • Falcons at Bears    Seriously, The Bears' defense looks really stout, but with Glennon starting they have no chance.
  • Ravens at Bengals    Coin flip game, going with the home team.
  • Steelers at Browns    I was thisclose to taking the Browns in an upset.
  • Cardinals at Lions    Cards look vulnerable this year.
  • Jaguars at Texans    Men playing against boys in this game, especially defensively.
  • Buccaneers at Dolphins   Never mind....  Get back to me in November.
  • Raiders at Titans    Titans are the sexy pick this year to win the division.  They're still the Titans, however.
  • Eagles at Redskins    Another coin flip game.
  • Colts at Rams    No Luck for the Colts, means no luck for the Colts...
  • Seahawks at Packers    Fuck the Packers.  (Plus their offensive line is HIGHLY questionable.)
  • Panthers at 49ers    The 49ers will challenge the Jets this year for that #1 pick.
  • Giants at Cowboys    Yet another coin flip game

Monday, September 11

  • Saints at Vikings    Saints on the road... not always a good thing.
  • Chargers at Broncos    Broncos aren't as good as people make them out to be this year, BUT the Chargers just plain suck.

This going to be a good year for the NFL I think.  I think, overall, most of the teams are going to be very competitive and "upsets" will happen more than we expect.

I am SO happy the NFL is back!!!!

Patriots

Bills (The Jets will be a world-class dumpster fire this year.)
Falcons
Ravens (coin flip, just like Kevin.)
Steelers
Lions
Jaguars
Buccaneers (for the same reason as Rich.)
Raiders
Redskins
Rams (would be picking them even if the Colts had Luck)
Seahawks (And I agree with what Kevin said about the Packers. *)
Panthers
Cowboys

Vikings
Broncos

*ALL of it.

Thursday, September 7

  • Chiefs at Patriots : Nothing special here. Pats raise their championship banner

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills: Going with the home team

  • Falcons at Bears: Time for the Dirty Birds to work on erasing that SB loss from their minds

  • Ravens at Bengals: Go Ravens

  • Steelers at Browns: Steelers will win by 18

  • Cardinals at Lions : This is Larry Fitzgerald's and Carson Palmer's farewell tour.

  • Jaguars at Texans : The Houston crowd will go nuts once JJ Watt get his first sack of the season

  • Buccaneers at Dolphins : I see the Bucs as a possible 10-11 win team that will NOT make the playoffs

  • Raiders at Titans : Titans in an minor upset

  • Eagles at Redskins : The Eagles could be a sleeper in the NFC East

  • Colts at Rams : No Luck. No problem

  • Seahawks at Packers : The game of the week! Packers cause they're at home

  • Panthers at 49ers: As much as I want to pick the Panthers, this could be the upset of the weekend

  • Giants at Cowboys: The Cowboys will not lose to the G-Men twice this season

Monday, September 11

  • Saints at Vikings: Coin toss

  • Chargers at Broncos: Chargers will make some noise in the AFC West.

There's some good match-ups in Week 1. I had to do few coin flips and guesses on a few games as I really had no clear choice ;) . As a Dolphins fan, I will be curious to see how Cutler does.

IMO, it shouldn't be counted at all.  Just treat it as a bye for the teams.

Here we go!

Thursday, September 7

  • Chiefs at Patriots

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills - Two horrible teams duking it out for the first pick in the 2018 draft.

  • Falcons at Bears - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!  Don't know why, but I have a feeling.  I think the Dirty Bird is going to have a Superbowl hangover.

  • Ravens at Bengals - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  No Flacco, no dice.

  • Steelers at Browns

  • Cardinals at Lions - Could be a good one.

  • Jaguars at Texans

  • Raiders at Titans - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!  Two high powered offenses, but the difference will be the defense.  The Raiders are horrible in the secondary.

  • Eagles at Redskins - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  No faith in the 'skins.

  • Colts at Rams - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  No Luck, no...well...luck.

  • Seahawks at Packers - Tough one to call, so I'm picking the home team.

  • Panthers at 49ers

  • Giants at Cowboys - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  Zeke playing this game before his suspension.

Monday, September 11

  • Saints at Vikings - Gotta go with my team, but our preseason hasn't exactly inspired confidence...

  • Chargers at Broncos - HAGERMAN DISAGREES!!!  I think everyone is picking the Broncos based on their D.  Although I think they'll be good again this year, their situation at QB is abysmal.  They'll be on the field a ton and the Chargers have some explosive new weapons.  Going against convention here...

I think this is a record for our opening week matchup, Hagerman.  You'd have to check the database, but we've got seven disagrees this week.  The season could be won or lost Week 1!

And the Tampa/Miami game has officially been moved to November 19th.  Both teams will now play 16 in a row.

Thursday, September 7

  • Chiefs at Patriots

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills

  • Falcons at Bears

  • Ravens at Bengals Kaepernick drama continues.

  • Steelers at Browns Pittsburgh offense still rolling.  Browns still Browning.

  • Cardinals at Lions Cards most expensive team to follow this year.   Stafford the most expensive QB and I'm taking him over Palmer (no bargain himself).

  • Jaguars at Texans

  • Raiders at Titans Oakland lost at home by 13 to Tennessee preseason (meaningless, right?) so I'm taking Carr hoping more playing time means more offense.

  • Eagles at Redskins

  • Colts at Rams

  • Seahawks at Packers

  • Panthers at 49ers

  • Giants at Cowboys

Monday, September 11

  • Saints at Vikings

  • Chargers at Broncos Not thrilled with either team so going with home and D over Chargers' late season funk.

Yep.  The Kansas City Chiefs pounded the Patriots again, this time in Foxboro, on opening day.  Amazing.  Really makes me almost wish they could have beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year.

I'm smacking myself, because I almost chose the Chiefs over the Patriots, but didn't because it was a Patriots home game. Dammit!

Hope the Patriots' run defense is that bad the rest of the year.

Early games...

Thursday, September 7
  • Chiefs at Patriots - Wrong

Sunday, September 10

  • Jets at Bills - Right

  • Falcons at Bears - Wrong. HAGERMAN RIGHT. Good game.  If the Bears WR could have held onto the ball on that final drive so close to the end zone, I would have gotten this upset pick.

  • Ravens at Bengals - Wrong. HAGERMAN RIGHT.  Ugly game.  The Bengals don't look ready for prime time.

  • Steelers at Browns - Right

  • Cardinals at Lions - Wrong.  Johnson goes out, Cards collapse.

  • Jaguars at Texans - Wrong.  That Jags D just might be for real.

  • Raiders at Titans - Wrong. HAGERMAN RIGHT.  Thought the Titans would keep pace.  Nope.

  • Eagles at Redskins - Right. HAGERMAN WRONG!!!  The 'skins looked really bad.  Gruen has to be on a short leash.

I start out an awful 3-6 and 1-3 v Hagerman.  Late games are looking better for me.  Might get to .500 by SNF.

Late games...
  • Colts at Rams - Right. HAGERMAN WRONG!!!  I thought the Colts would lose, just not a terribly as they did.  Ugly.

  • Seahawks at Packers - Right.  Some missed PI calls against the most hated Cheeseheads, but that doesn't excuse the poor O line play of the Seahawks.

  • Panthers at 49ers - Right.  Gonna be a long season if you're a Niner fan...

6-6 so far and 2-3 v Hagerman with three games to go.
