Joe - ah yes. The Six Million Dollar Man. And Bigfoot. And Stefanie Powers. And Stefanie Powers. And Stefanie Powers.
Although that tunnel didn't seem so hard to navigate... but then, I guess I never tried, so I wouldn't know. But focusing on the floor occurs to me to be a successful tactic.
And Stefanie Powers.

There was a Bigfoot video on YouTube recently. Looked extremely convincing - for a nanosecond.
You see, two things came to mind: one, why was the driver filming his car journey? I don't tend to have a video camera on when I drive; and, two, Bigfoot, who walked across the path, did not seem startled by the car in any way, shape or form.
If I was cynical, I'd say that the non-started 'Bigfoot' was a guy in a suit. And despite the surprised tone in the driver's voice, well, again, why film a boring car journey through woodland?

Have you noticed that Flying Saucer and Bigfoot sightings have diminished since everybody got a camera on their phone?

There are many videos of recent UFO sightings on Youtube, but these have the effect of muddying the waters even more. Smartphones aren't made for filming moving objects high up in the sky, so the UFOs look like blurry fleas. And of course Youtube provides a even bigger draw for hoaxers, now equipped with powerful PCs and software.

Now you mention it, I do.
I am not a fan of the way "UFO" and "alien craft" are terms used interchangeably. As we all know, a UFO is an unidentified flying object. A weather balloon appearing several hundred feet above my flat is a UFO. I may not know it's a weather balloon until the authorities confirm it; to my untrained eye, it's a UFO - but that doesn't mean it's a ship crafted by little, green men.
Pedantic, I know, but I find that UFO has become an all-encompassing term for aircraft, weather balloons, etc. People equate UFOs with alien life.

The SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN episodes with Andre The Giant are the best memory I have of Bigfoot. I know I was super young, but, that show had me enthralled every week.

I believe alien life exists. I just don't believe it's flying around visiting this planet covertly and that any reported UFO sightings were actually alien spacecraft.
HOWEVER....I also don't buy for a second that what happened at Roswell was a weather balloon. I believe it's more likely that the U.S. was testing out something experimental, whatever it was failed, and they claimed it was a weather balloon as a rather weak excuse.
I only believe in two conspiracy theories I've ever heard of actually being plausible, and Roswell isn't one of them.
(And no, I won't say what the two conspiracies are. But it's not crazy stuff like the Illuminati actually existing.)

I also don't buy for a second that what happened at Roswell was a weather balloon.•• It wasn't. It WAS a high altitude balloon -- one of several -- but its purpose was nothing to do with weather. The instrument package it carried was designed to detect unnatural radiation in the upper atmosphere, as part of keeping track of Soviet atom bomb tests.

This in part is why kooks are frustrating:

Isn't that freakin' amazing enough without having to concoct little green men...? How about not wasting brain-power on goofy conspiracies and instead studying the real-life science/technology behind this?

Noting the enormous distances involved, Carl Sagan commented that if even a fraction of the "UFO" sightings really were extraterrestrial craft, it would be the equivalent of all the scientists on Earth converging on a little island off the coast of Africa, in order to study the natives there."Flying saucers" tend to boost our human egos. As we are increasingly dwarfed (and moved away from center) by science, it's encouraging to be able to think we are still fascinating enough that aliens would want to invest all that time and effort to come see us.

That reminds me of INHERIT THE WIND.
BRADY: These are simple people, Henry, poor people. they work hard and they need to believe in something... something beautiful. They're seeking for something more perfect than what they have.
DRUMMOND: Window shopping for heaven.
BRADY: Why do you want to take it away from them, Henry? It's all they have... like a golden chalice of hope.
DRUMMOND: Ah. Like my Golden Dancer. [...] The wood was rotten. The whole thing was put together with spit and sealing wax. All shine and no substance.
