Can't honestly say I was a fan (I don't own a single film of his), but his impact in the industry cannot be argued.  Growing up as a kid, though, my mother & grandmother would always watch his annual Muscular Dystrophy telethon, so I've known who he was for as long as I can remember.

RIP

When I was a kid, I would look forward to local TV stations playing Jerry Lewis movie marathons, features like THE BELL BOY and CINDERFELLA and THE NUTTY PROFESSOR.

He was such a great comedic actor. He also did a lot good raising
money for muscular dystrophy.

Definitely one of a kind. They broke the mold when they made him.

What a run he had.

I used to watch his movies regularly, decades ago.

One favorite was THE BIG MOUTH, haven't seen it in many years. Going to have to remedy that in his honor.

He will be missed.  My favorite of his solo movies is "The Bellboy."

My favorite is the Nutty Professor. I remember laughing
hysterically at the scene where he is sleeping
peacefully after working out at the gym. The camera
pans down to show his arms stretched to his feet from
lifting weights.

Anyone know the name of the movie that was set in WW2?
I think he was impersonating a German officer.

I was never much into his movies but I got to see him do his one man show live in a 2000 seat theater in So Cal a few years back.  Though his hearing was weak his mind was still really sharp and quick during the lengthy audience Q+A.  Complicated man with complicated relationships with family and friends but a groundbreaking career for sure.

Yes, that's it. Thanks, Mario. (I'm surprised only 26%
liked on Rotten Tomatoes. I would have thought the score
would be higher.)

Hands down my favorite solo movie is THE NUTTY PROFESSOR.

Loved all the Martin-Lewis movies, but only about half of his solo ones.

Thought he was excellent in The Nutty Professor and The King of Comedy, which I think are the only films of his that I've seen.

When I was a kid I watched every Jerry Lewis movie I could. I remember friends coming over to ask me to come out and play and I refused because there was a Jerry Lewis movie on TV. I really liked him with Martin.

And I watched many a telethon too.
