I know this is a pretty unfair question to ask, but I suppose, think of the movie studio that has revolutionized the industry, been consistent, given us a lot of classics, etc.

Please pick ONE. No honourable mentions. Just try and take into account the history of a studio. Thinking about their back catalogue, which one has produced a lot of films that you enjoyed?

I'm going with 20th Century Fox.

A lot of classics have come from Fox: STAR WARS, DIE HARD, HOME ALONE, TITANIC, etc, etc. It's had some bloody good animated films, too. I did have a browse of DVD/Blu-ray shelves before posting this - there's a hell of a lot of Fox films on my shelves. And many of their films have stood the test of time.

I think I need to go with the RKO/Desilu/Paramount combo.

Paramount seems to have a convoluted history as far as name changes and ownership is concerned (didn't an oil company once own it or part of it? Maybe I imagined that).

Just seems that throughout my life, there's been a different Paramount logo every decade or so, depending on ownership or name change.

I have to focus on the Hollywood Golden Age, and I have to pick Warner Bros.

Gulf and Western owned it lock, stock and barrel.  I worked in the Bluhdorn building for 8 years on the lot, named after the guy who built Gulf and Western from a small Michigan autoparts company into a multi-billion dollar corporation.  Still, Paramount very nearly went bankrupt under G+W in the early 70s until Robert Evans and a couple blockbusters named LOVE STORY and THE GODFATHER saved the day.

Warner Bros. is my choice for favorite studio.   Other studios have had intensive bursts of greatness for a decade or three but from where I sit WB has been the most consistent over the broadest swath of time.

Thanks for that history, Rick.

I'd love to read up on the histories of various studios. I'm sure the websites for each studio will have a potted history.

MGM for me.

I have to blame TCM for that. Their extensive MGM library that I have been watching the last 20 years has created a lot of my all time favorites.

Warner Brothers

Something about that water tower and classic movies gives me a smile.

I seemed to gravitate toward movies that Orion Pictures produced.

Never had a favorite.  Too many favorites from all of them to single out one as creating more of what I enjoy than the others.

Warner Bros. It's the studio that gave me Errol Flynn,
Superman, Clint Eastwood, Batman, Lethal Weapon, Harry
Potter and Hally Berry's bare chest.

Spent the past week watching a whole bunch of old favorites, and was surprised to be reminded how many were from 20th Century Fox.
