How deep into the casting process before someone decides this would play better as THE JETTERSONS?

I have a feeling that the 'tech' of this Jetsons show won't be a charming homage to the animated look of the series (like the Flintstones movies did).

It will probably feel more like 'The Orville' or 'Galaxy Quest'.

If they had the balls to go 'retro' (by being close to the show) and call it 'the future', I'd be happy.  Well, as happy as I could be with a show that will probably be fantastically unfunny.

THE JETSONS was a parody (too sophisticated a word!) of the period in which it was made. So it was the Future as 1963, and vice versa. If this isn't that, it will not be THE JETSONS.

I guess this explains this upcoming updated comic book version of The Jetsons.

DC has been doing that for a while now.  They've done it with THE FLINTSTONES, SCOOBY-DOO and JOHNNY QUEST.

Yeah, I know Matt. I was just thinking that maybe the new comic book series might be either completely or partly based off of an early script for the new live action TV pilot because of corporate synergy. Sorry I wasn't clearer in my previous post.

ITEM: I fear that this might have the flavor of "Riverdale". I haven't watched it; the commercials convinced me I'd loathe every moment - but it could just be another murder mystery with characters that have the same name as some old cartoon characters...

ITEM: I haven't read the Flintstones, Scooby Doo, or Wacky Races, but I gather that there were some major change ups so that they could remain "wacky."

But I collected, read, and LOVE Future Quest! It was obviously written by someone with a true love of these characters, and it is just great. Not entirely consistent with the cartoons (e.g., Buzz Conroy's parent is his mother, not his father) but it is honest and exciting. If you've not read it, I cannot recommend it enough. (No, Space Ghost does not call out his own name... that only happened in that silly 70s redux.)

I must not have an imagination because I just can't see how this show would be interesting past the first episode?

Are they planning on making it a drama like they did for Riverdale???
