The discussion of the upcoming THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD made me realize that the title alone has me intrigued about it (what sort of situation would cause a hitman to need one?)

So with that I ask - what movies have gotten you to want to see them just by their title?

Things to do in Denver when you're dead.

With a title like that, the film was never going to live up to my expectations.

The Silence of the Lambs.  I knew the cast going in and that it would be scary, but that's about all.

I think a lot of Universal and Hammer horror movies did good with their titles.

It'd have been easy to just add a Roman numeral and have "FRANKENSTEIN III" or whatever, but instead we had THE GHOST OF FRANKENSTEIN from Universal or FRANKENSTEIN AND THE MONSTER FROM HELL from Hammer.

Whatever the artistic qualities of POTA, film titles such as CONQUEST OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sounds good.

I think most Bond titles are appealing too, particularly the likes of YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE or THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (titles taken from the books, I know).

YOUR VICE IS A LOCKED ROOM AND ONLY I HAVE THE KEY

Giallo being a bit of weak spot with me, but they usually sound like they'd be good.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER

Thought it would be one of those so-bad-it's-good debacles, but it's legitimately pretty good.

Agreed and agreed -- mesmerizing title, and the movie was quite surprising in that I thought it was well-done overall and it was really quite entertaining, when all I was hoping for at most was a so-good-it's-bad train wreck.  Definitely a pleasant surprise.

"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow"

I really wish this was the smash I prayed it would be.

David, no one is more sad than I.
Sky Captain is not a perfect film, but it is a fun romp
with some of my favorite production design ever put on
screen. I love all of the robot designs, and the ships,
ray guns, rockets and jetpacks. It also predates Sin City
as one of, if not the first ever film completely shot on
green screen. Not bad for a guy who just wanted to do a
cool short out of his garage.

I'm still praying that Kevin and Kerry Conran, put out an
art book, though it's never going to happen.

Bubba Ho-Tep

I can't even describe this one, but if the title tells me
I'm getting a redneck mummy terrorizing a group of
people, I'm there.

WARNING: If you haven't seen this movie, proceed at your
own risk. Anyone I've ever known that has seen this
movie, either loves it, or absolutely hates it. There
isn't any in between.

THE ADVENTURES of BUCKAROO BONZAIN ACROSS the 8th DIMENSION

I seen the title while looking for  something to go see in the movie section of the newspaper (remember doing that?). My friends and I agreed "We've got to see that".

It did not disappoint.

BACK TO THE FUTURE.
I can still remember seeing the teaser trailer in the movie theater and being absolutely perplexed by the title.  How can you go back to the future?  Isn't the future ahead?  I absolutely could not make sense of the title.  It seemed oxymoronic.

Saw BUBBA HO-TEP. Remember liking it, but not enough for repeated viewings.

Call me the In-Betweener....

Yeah, I was pretty ambivalent to BUBBA HO TEP. Cute idea, Campbell hams it up nicely but it's ultimately kind of forgettable.

'Things to do in Denver When You're Dead' would always have been my go to answer for this. An impossibly cool title for a film, which like Mathew said, could never live up to all it's potential. Though they gave it a good try, with quite an interesting cast.

'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' is a favourite for me. And when I was younger 'Adventures in Babysitting.' I'm also quite fond of 'The Last Boy Scout.'

I was intrigued by the original title for a recent science fiction movie:-
'All you Need is Kill.' and then they changed it to the rather generic 'Edge of Tomorrow' (Which kinda sounds like an inferior City on the Edge of Forever/Return to Tomorrow mash-up!) And then they subsequently changed it to 'Live. Die. Repeat' which doesn't really sound like a title at all.

Of course back in the 80es, calling the sequel to Alien; ALIENS, was a stroke of genius, that really said it all.

A lot of the Bond titles could probably fall under this category too.

And finally Star Trek V: The Final Frontier sounded like the definitive Star Trek title. Too bad the film could never live up to it.
