Not sure what is up with the drum-playing ant, but the rest looks good.

The first movie shows us the ants can be controlled to do complex tasks.

I suspect the ant is being 'controlled' be Scott to demonstrate his proficiency with the helmet.  Recall that his training in that department was a stickler for him early on?  He finally got the ants to spin the coin on his dashboard.  Maybe he is showing us (Hank and Hope) how far he has come.

My only potential issue, based on this trailer, is that this seems to be veering dangerously close to a trend in embarrassed adaptations.  Specifically, there seems to be an impression with some of this source material that the lead character being a white guy and other subsidiary characters being something other than a white guy is a problem.  Exhibit A of this was the Seth Rogan Green Hornet, where to apologize for an Asian man being a white guy's sidekick, they made Kato super-competent and the Green Hornet a bumbler.

If the movie plays Scott as an everyman, and the Wasp as super-competent, I'll be fine with it.  If they feel the need to make him look clueless or incompetent to make the female character look even better, that'll ruin it for me.

How cute is this?!

I love the MCU stars and their marketing of the films this way.  They all appear to be having a ball.  And even if they aren't I appreciate that that you never hear of any serious ill will .  Closest I can recall is Idris Elba expressing his need to move on from Heimdall in no uncertain terms.

Once again...the audience good will is off the charts.

Anyone able to tell me who the villain is?

And I'm guessing this film ends at exactly the same point as Infinity War does (avoiding any spoilers).

The villain is Ghost, who I think was originally an Iron Man villain.

As for the trailer, it feels more like a TV series to me, instead of a feature film. Not bad, mind you, but maybe *too* light to be a blockbuster. On the other hand, Ant Man probably shouldn't be saving all mankind either. I guess it looks more cute than awe-inspiring.

I've never really warmed up to Paul Rudd but I did like him in "Civil War," although that was a pretty small dose. I still haven't seen the first "Ant Man," maybe I should do that first!

Nothing wrong with this trailer, mind you, I'm just not sure it's driving me to the theater either.

Looks to be a not-very-faithful version of the Iron Man villain Ghost, Matthew.

Thanks, John (and Peter!).

It does feel like a TV series, I agree, but I did enjoy the first one. Quite how it will fare after Infinity War and Black Panther, I'm not sure, although Marvel have the switching of tone off to tee now so I'm not going to question it too much.

I always thought Paul Rudd would have made a better Hawkeye (circa the purple costume) although I'm a massive Jeremy Renner fan.

After Infinity War & presuming that Captain Marvel will be pretty heavy, I’m Ok with this film being light hearted & funny.

Once again, people who say all Marvel movies are the same have not been paying attention

The "messed-up looking dog" playing the drums in the new trailer sold it for me.

I'm all in.  Looks like the perfect, light-hearted summertime blast at the movies.

Scott is a VERY capable cat burglar.  The 1st movie made this very clear. What he wasn't at the time was a very good superhero.  And he got the hang of that pretty well once he focused and listened to the Pyms.  Recall that he took on Falcon at Avengers Compound and pretty much beat him. Something Falcon is highly embarrassed about if Civil War is any indication.

Scott acquits himself quite well for a guy who became a superhero due to someone else's choosing him.

The first Ant-Man was a light-hearted heist film. If this is a light hearted break between the Infinity War movies and Captain Marvel, I am more than happy.

This looks like a really fun movie. Heck I'd go just to see Evangeline Lilly, but wow, I like the whole cast and the humor of this franchise.

Going by the trailer, seems like the movie should be called GI-ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, instead.

It was established that Rudd's Lang had formidable smarts and physical skills, as well of a notion of righting wrongs, well before donning the Ant-Man suit. That's why Hank Pym chose him.

He proved himself in the first movie by planning and executing the "heist" and taking down Yellowjacket. And he returned from the Quantum Realm...something the really smart Pym didn't even think was possible.

He more than held his own in CIVIL WAR. He made a, um, huge difference in that airport battle. Sure, he was geeked out by meeting Captain America...but people should be, perhaps especially those aspring to superhero-dom.

I think they can (and hope they do) keep Hope super competent without making Scott a buffoon. They managed it in the first one.

Lang's reaction to meeting Cap is how I think most heroes meeting Superman should react; with awe and admiration, not dread and fear.

I liked the way Ant Man presented Cap his shield after retrieving it from Spider-Man in CIVIL WAR, by striking a pose and declaiming, "I believe this belongs to you, Captain America!"

Hope being the better fighter and more versed in the abilities of the Pym Particles was established in the first movie. What’s been shown in the trailer is just consistency. Scott should (and does, based on the first movie) bring something to the table, but Wasp outshining him in those areas doesn’t concern me.

I don't know who coined this, but the first I've seen it was in this forum.

I love the idea of calling him GiAnt Man.

Robert -

"GiAnt-Man" has been bouncing around for a while.  I don't know where it originated, but I've seen it in several places.

Tangent: One of the Rugrats characters used the phrase "giantic" tor talk about something huge...which to me, makes more sense.

If something is like a giant, it should be giant-ic, not gi-gant-ic. Where does that middle G even come from??

From the Latin 'gigas.' The real question is where did that second 'g' GO when they translated to English!
