Transmets and Iron Fists have been moved to their correct divisions and the schedule has been set!

Okay, I got the email and finally got online here, so I'll be there for the draft as well. Unless I sleep in.

I went ahead and changed the weekly Waiver Wire Priority.  For years it's been randomly generated by Yahoo with no rhyme or reason. I'd often see the same teams getting the shaft by being low on the priority list week after week and not really understanding why. Now I do.  For example, our league has run with a "Continual rolling list" (see below).  Yahoo generates a random order for the first week.  Those who claim players off waivers are moved to the end of the line for the next week while those who didn't claim players that week are once again randomly mixed and spat out.

This season, I changed it to "Reverse order of standings" (again, see below).  Essentially, the new Waiver Wire Priority goes from worst to first every week.  I think that's only fair. Make it more competitive rather than leaving it to chance.

What seems most fair to you guys?

  • Continual rolling list: waiver claims are processed in waiver priority order and each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list
  • Reverse order of standings: waiver claims are processed in reverse order of standings and successful claims do not affect waiver priority list
  • Weekly rolling list based on standings: waiver claims are processed in reverse order of standings and each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list

In case anyone was curious about how the NFL officially conducts waiver wire business, they do it based on "reverse order of standings" from week four on:

"From the beginning of the fourth regular season weekend through the Super Bowl, assignments are based on the inverse order of their win-loss record. For example, a team with fewer wins will be awarded a player off waivers ahead of a team with a better record. If a player passes through waivers unclaimed, he becomes a free agent."

Does that mean if I'm in last place and put claims on multiple players that  I'm guaranteed to get all of them?

And thanks a bunch for all the time and effort you're putting into this, Matt!

(That's the last time I'll be nice to you until we're all done, by the way.)

A couple of questions...

Do you want to add PPR to our league or keep it as is?  I'd add +1 point per reception if you guys want to be PPR.

Do you want to add Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns?  They would be worth as much as a regular TD (6 points).

Let me know!

Sure on PPR

Are you asking to reward the individual that scored on the punt/kick return?

Yes.  Right now, that's not how it works in our league.  Kickoff and punt returns are not scored.

Another important reminder:  If you are not participating in the live draft, have your pre-draft rankings set before 10 AM Sunday.  EVERY TEAM WILL BE DRAFTING WHETHER YOU DO IT LIVE WITH US OR NOT.  If you can't participate, your picks will be culled from your rankings.  If you don't set them, you're letting Yahoo determine your draft picks.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

I'm a 68% on my mock drafts so far. My best draft was a 86.  Oddly that was where I drafted last.

I would vote yes on both of those things, matt. Gives a little bit of a bump to possesion type guys and makes Reciving specailist RBs a bit more value. On the other hand there's no PPCarry/competion. I dunno. I still say yes just for somehing new in Mk II.  ha ha.

Hey, everyone, I'm not going to make the live draft. The company I work for has offices in Houston and San Antonio which are being hit by the hurricane so I have to go in and cover some things.

It's DRAFT DAY!!!

I'm going to logged into Yahoo about a half-hour before we start.  Never having done this before, I'd like to see what's what.  I know there's a chat feature, and you know me I love some smack talk, so start a' talkin' early and often!

Good luck!
