I would have liked to see the end to The Last Galactus Story, but X-Men: The Hidden Years was a tough blow. Particularly the garbage reason given by Marvel.

If some creator(s) finish up an older run, then that makes the story about those creators... not about the character. And while neither DC nor Marvel are rolling in dollars today, I get the impression that they don't want to have to actually pay this creative talent and support that talent's reputation when there are so many quality pieces of material that both companies are distributing today...
Which is to say, "Vietch? Starlin? Moore? Byrne? Let 'em promote themselves and sell themselves! We wouldn't make money from 'em anyhow." That's whether that talent would return or not.
There are suicide jockeys running these companies..

TLGS was the main reason I started buying Epic Illustrated so it definitely worked on this Byrne Victim. Wish I'd bought multiple copies now though.

Along with JB's Danger Unlimited, I'd add his IDW superhero trilogy to the list. Will we ever see The Conclave in their own title?

Hudnall Alpha Flight
***
I think I gave up on AF before he left the title and hadn't realised it was premature. Any specific reasons?
And did Hudnall ever finish Espers? I know it went across several publishers and titles but lost sight of it.

That's a book I'd really like to see! The world of Trio, Triple Helix and Conclave may have only been with us for a short while, but man, do I miss it!

I remember seeing the ads for TLGS (and I was dying to read it) -- but honestly, I could not find that magazine anywhere when I was kid. The drugstores, supermarkets, our one magazine shop (I grew up in a small town)... no one sold EPIC!

IDW is also doing a new edition of Brat Pack!
***
I really enjoyed Veitch's run on SWAMP THING (until the abrupt, if justifiable, ending -- or non-ending). I didn't like BRAT PACK or THE MAXIMORTAL at all. They read like Veitch's way of saying "fuck you, DC Comics." Which I totally sympathize with. But they didn't make for enjoyable reading.
Has anyone here read THE ONE, which was the first "revisionist superhero" story of the '80s (before WATCHMEN, MIRACLEMAN, etc.)? I've heard it's very good but I haven't read it.

And in retrospect, while I enjoyed a lot (not all, but a lot) of Peter David's HULK run, I think what JB had planned for the Hulk would've been better for the character's long-term "health" than the whole gray Hulk/green Hulk/merged Hulk idea that David introduced. I wish an INCREDIBLE HULK FOREVER series was possible (like Claremont's X-MEN FOREVER) but I know it'll never happen.

I bought the first issue when I was a kid and it waslike nothing I had read at the time. Loved it but my trips to direct sales shops way back then were rare and I never picked it up again. Probably need to rectify that ...
