Clearly a lot of us post, at least some of the time, from devices that use some kind of predictive spelling software. And this can lead to some truly bizarre distortions, even ones that are impossible to translate.

So, PLEASE, reread your posts, a couple of times even, before you hit that ENTER key!

That's good advice.

I'm going to try and use my Chromebook more (spellchecker is switched off) as the predictive spelling software on mobile devices is not only frustrating for the reasons you said - but it can be embarrassing or worse. Wished a person a 'lonely' rather than 'lovely' day once, a person who was a bit down on their luck. Not a word they needed to see!

I'm guilty. Often I post late at night and it has made for some strange
mistakes.

I proof my reply, as soon as I post it I see another typo I missed, edit the post... and always wonder if my punctuation was correct.

Thank goodness for spellcheck or JB would have thrown me out long ago : )

I do proofread my posts but still somehow miss the typos, thus the plethora of edited posts. I guess because what I'm seeing is what's in my head and not what's on the screen. I've found in my writing that it's easier to spot typos and misspelled words if I print it out and read it in print form rather than on a computer screen. I'm not sure why either.
