I'm gonna be proactive with this thread and add a SPOILER WARNING.  From this point forward there is no need to inviso-text the discussion about the movie.

You have been warned!!!!!!

My wife's company is renting out a showing for the Thursday night premier. Plus a $20 credit a piece to purchase munchies for employee and their 1 guest.

I'm like a kid on Xmas morning.......

I

Can't

Wait!

EDIT: My wife managed to get an extra ticket this afternoon, so we're bringing the little one to make it a family outing.

I'm avoiding spoilers, but I can't help but wonder if this supposed absence of Hawkeye (in all promotional materials) is because they're saving him for next summer's AVENGERS: WEST COAST!

Thursday morning and one minute past midnight. Iíve never done a midnight showing, not even for Star Wars, but I just cannot risk anyone spoiling this for me.

Neither can I Bill, neither can I.

I'm hoping that there is some residual Canada time left in me from my trip there last week

I went to see Batman Forever at a 3pm showing after 4
days of working 6am-2pm, about half way through the
film, my wife nudged me and said wake up! I replied that
i wasn`t asleep, she said `Yes you were, you were
snoring`!

Edited to add...my workmate is working 1-9pm tonight
then going to the midnight showing, then seeing it again
at 10am in the morning, that`s dedication!

We (me, my wife, and the kids) have tickets to see it Monday evening at 5:15pm because that was the only time everyone's schedules lined up perfectly.

But...my wife and I just bought two "secret matinee tickets" to go on Saturday morning at 11:05am. Hee hee...

I feel so dirty...but I am also thrilled beyond belief that I don't have to wait!

Thought I was safe checking through cast information for another (non-Marvel) movie franchise...

NOPE. Ended up getting a huge spoiler.

I saw this in Hong Kong. It's a dyed-in-the-wool crossover, and it continues narratives from every past Marvel movie (except Ant-Man). So maybe it won't be a very satisfying Avengers story for some folks. But viewed as a Thanos movie, it's a compelling tale.

Just back from seeing it.

Wow! That was exhausting. A very draining movie. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it's a lot to take in. Having said that I have three relatively spoiler free criticisms. And I would say the importance you place on these factors will likely determine how much you enjoy or don't enjoy the movie.

1) Quick editing in a few of the fight scenes. I'm honestly wondering if one of the Russo brothers is better at directing fight scenes than the other. Because I've noticed this in all their Marvel films. Both the Winter Soldier and Civil War had some fight scenes that were strikingly shot and others where the editing was so fast that it verged on Bourne style shaky cam.
Winter Soldier's elevator fight scene is excellent. But I've seen behind the scenes footage of the later Cap-Bucky knife fight that was a lot better than it looked in the movie. Simply because of the way they edited it.
Similarly Civil War's airport sequence is magnificent. But the earlier fight scenes with Cap and Bucky fending off soldiers was a pain to watch.
Unfortunately this almost schizophrenic trend continues into Infinity War. Dr Strange's fight sequences are imaginative and fun. But more street level characters like Black Widow and even Cap get lost in overly quick editing.
Whedon gets a lot of criticism. But one thing I can say for sure is that in his Avenger's movies it was never difficult to know what was going on in the fight sequences.

2) I was not a fan of how little the character's looks reflected their comic counterparts. If this is gonna be one of the last times we see the Steve Rogers Captain America then I want him to actually look like Cap. Not like some mask-less, black costumed and bearded trooper. Thor not having long hair or even blond hair and both characters not having their traditional weapons was disappointing too. And I missed Widow's signature red hair. And for the love of God can somebody maybe have Spidey try and keep his mask on! When we had the Andrew Garfield movies it seemed like we were getting more of Spidey in the mask than in the previous Raimi Maguire movies. But with this Spidey it seems like they're back tracking into that bad habit again of having the mask come off at the drop of a hat. Holland was in this movie a lot, but it didn't seem like Spidey was.

3) This last one is probably the most spoilery, though not too much. Thanos is a good interesting villain in this. But if anything he's too sympathetic. Almost falling into that misguided villain trope. You won't find him being in love with Death in this movie, that's for sure.

Anyway I don't want to seem too negative, as by and large I did enjoy this film. It is very epic. They really ramped up the scale. And for the most part, the pace is great. There's even a handful of good lines and character interactions. Dr Strange and Tony Stark for instance are definitely an interesting team up. And Gamora's history with Thanos is properly explored.

I am very glad that we don't have to wait any longer than a year for the next one though. As I think my long term view of this film will very much depend on where they take the story-lines in the fourth Avengers movie.

Oh and if this hasn't been mentioned yet, our host JB gets a mention in the end credits. They also single out Jim Starlin's work especially as being an inspiration.

WE are at the theater waiting for the movie to begin in 27 minutes.

Are there after credit scenes? If so, how many?

The credits are long enough for a trip to the restrooms and back. There are no mid-credit scenes.
