The Bat-Man.

I guess I should clarify, I meant the original 1939 version by Bill Finger, Gardner Fox, Bob Kane, Sheldon Moldoff and Jerry Robinson. Under open minded editor "it looks good to me" Vincent Sullivan. Unfortunately, only Bob Kane was credited.

Shane, I think the heartburn is about people listing more than just one favorite character, contrary to what was asked for in the originating post.

Black suit Spider-Man.  Like mid-80s.  My local mall for some reason did not have copies of Amazing Spider-Man, so I grew up reading Web of Spider-Man and Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man (like issues 95-112 era).  I think JB's cover of Peter Parker 101 is my all-time favorite Spidey cover.  Black Spider-Man vs. Hobgoblin (identity a mystery) ranks up there with Macho Man Randy Savage and G.I. Joe cartoons as the highlights of my youth.  I always thought the writing of 1980s Spidey was really, really well done.

Captain America

Because he was rarely if ever the most powerful hero in the room.  But he was the one the even most powerful heroes looked up to.

You just wanna BE as good as Captain America.

Wallace, if you're talking about people not explaining why it's their favorite
character…

I'm not.

I could easily give a "laundry list" of favorites, but #1 has always been Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) for me.

Who my favorite character is had changed over the years. Superman, Batman, Spider-Man... I cannot pin down just one anymore.

Spider-Man until that one more day/brand new day nonsense sickened me and caused me to quit reading comics.

Wallace Sellars : Wow.
Robbie Parry : Ditto, Wallace. Are we on the same page? ;-)
