TCM had some great films on today. One of them perhaps not as great as the others but still enjoyable was 'The Green Slime'.

As I was watching the film I thought that Doctor Who would fit nicely into this film. So thinking along those lines I thought it might be fun to think about what other movies the Doctor could have fit into.

Another that comes to mind is "Five Million Years to Earth" the title of the film when I saw it. Some of you would know it by it's original title "Quartermass and the Pitt".

If you're interested in playing along. I'd like to know what other films do you think would have made a good Doctor Who movie/ episode.

Aliens would make a classic base under siege story. The Doctor would be part Ripley/part Bishop!

On a similar note, The Doctor could easily fit into Pitch Black.

This is a curious pick Matthew. I was initially going to say that I didn't see this film as being one suited for the Doctor.

I had to alter it when I recalled the Doctor Who episode Planet of the Dead.

There would have been such a conflict between the Doctor and Riddick and Johns characters.

PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES aka THE DEMON PLANET. It's an outer space adventure where the crew gets picked off by a mysterious force of a sort not exactly implied by the title. The survival rate is comparable to a couple of the Doctor's best serials. And it has a Doctor Who title(s).

'Alien' has 'Doctor Who' written all over it.

THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS.

What about GHOSTBUSTERS? The Doctor could provide the Ghostbusters with details of the exact science behind those 'ghosts'.

Maybe Lifeforce (1985), in which vampires in suspended animation are brought to earth. Perfect for a Pertwee adventure!

"Casablanca": The patrons at Rick's defy the Daleks by singing 'La Marseillaise'...OK, this one needs work. But not if Stephen Moffat is producing.;-)

"Invasion of the Body Snatchers." Its premise is somewhat similar to the "Android Invastion" story of the Tom Baker era, though the outcome would be much different.

You guys must know a different Doctor from the one with which I am familiar. Or you've been seeing different movies.

And different movies is the key, since that's what we'd end up with if the Doctor was inserted into any of the title named -- especially if he was there actually replacing one of the original characters.

The thread ought to be 'Movie premises that could be adapted to 'Doctor Who'.

Can't get this thread out of my head and another film popped into my head - The Abyss. Could definitely see that reworked as a DW tale.
