It might be an odd choice, but Archie
Goodwin.
••
Why odd? Archie was a great guy, and
produced some terrific stories (both on
and off the page!).
======
I think when most people are faced with
this question, whether the person they
wish to meet is living or passed, they go
for the "sexy" choice. While Archie might
be thought of as such, in the professional
community, I don't think he is with fans.
For me, I see a fountain of knowledge and
a good storyteller. Those are the types of
people I'm drawn to, with the hope that I
can get some insight into there thought
process.

Stephen C., I personally do not go for the "sexy" creators; I go for the ones who are creating stuff I really like, notwithstanding their status.

Example: A few years back, in Pittsburgh I believe, my beloved wife and I were wandering through the guest area. There was a long line by one of the current Flavor-of-the-Month creators - I don't recall who but I remember NOT liking the "homage" type art he was doing - but we got to mosey right up through the NOBODY IN LINE to see Mike Grell, and Joe Sinnott, and Terry Austin. All three were splendid gentlemen, lovely to chat with, and equally accommodating to my wife (just barely interested in comics) and me ("It was All Star #8, not Sensation #1".)

NO. LINES.

There's nothing wrong with seeing who you want to see, naturally; but I agree with "fountain of knowledge and a good storyteller" attraction.

And what do you think? I got a Popeye sketch from Terry Austin!
