Eddie Mathews, the great Braves third baseman.  He was a guest here at a card show, and then my sister decided to get married on the same weekend.  He passed not long after.

Comics-related, I really would have liked to have met Carl Barks.

The guys from Sepultura in the early years. Some of my friends had the chance to meet with Max and Igor Cavalera before Sepultura turned into an international band, unfortunately I was not there to share the moment. That was back in the 80's when Andreas Kisser joined the band the the Cavalera brothers moved to São Paulo.
It doesn't count as a meeting, but one day I was in the Supermarket with my wife and we saw Igor Cavalera buying groceries with his wife. I came close and said that I was a big Sepultura fan, since the early days, but as I recall he was not in the mood to talk and was we just had a handshake and couple words.

Never got close to meeting the folks I'd love to meet. But I would have loved to have met John Lennon.

On the comics side Joe Kubert and Jack Kirby. Mostly I'd like to sit in a room and watch them work.

Wallace S. - if you want to see an entirely different side of Andy Griffith, try to get hands on "Man of the People." It's haunting, and eerily prescient of many eras.

I would have like to met a few...
Curt Swan
Kurt Schaffenberger
Gerald Ford
Dave Thomas
My paternal grandmother

And probably lots more that aren't coming to mind at the moment.

As far as comics go, I still regret not attending a local con back in the mid-80s and having the opportunity to meet Jack Kirby. At this point, I don't recall why I didn't go...

I wish I would have had the chance to meet JB when he was still doing conventions...

That's not in keeping with the theme of this thread --- unless you know something I don't!!

Eric, do you mean A FACE IN THE CROWD? If so, I have purposely avoided it
because of my appreciation for Mr. Griffith's good guy image. I made the
mistake of watching movies like CRIME OF INNOCENCE and MURDER IN
COWETA COUNTY many years ago, and while Griffith was great in both films, I
didn't enjoy them because the characters he played weren't good guys.
