I just came across this.  Not sure of the circumstances of Joe Jusko painting an old John Buscema pic, but I like them both!  (And Jusko DID give Buscema credit.)

Eric, that Conan piece was from the inside cover of Savage Sword of Conan (not certain which issue #, but early in the series. #30ish?)

The first time I saw the painted version by Joe Jusko was for the cover of Back Issue magazine #12. (Instant purchase for me!)

If ever I want to depress the crap out of myself, I look at Moebius. I never get as far as the design, or the composition, or the draughtsmanship… I just look at the brush strokes in the inking and think: Give up. That's genius, right there, in every line.

That Moebius Surfer piece is pretty darn hard to beat.

Steve, it's from Earth X.

Wallace, me too. He's one of my favorite artists working today. Wish he'd do more high profile stuff and more of it. These days I think he's working on Mother Panic which is very low on most folks' radars. That said, some of the more obscure stuff he's done like Winter Men was actually really good. He did do a couple of issues of X-Men during the Morrison run.
