Greg, in my experience in all facets of life, I've learned not to say things can't get worse. It's always possible for things to get worse.

That noted,  I agree Kevin Feige and his crew should do a better job than Fox.

Just politely declined an interview about this story. I'm sure Chris will take up the slack!

In a recent interview, Kevin Feige mentioned that he has a five-year plan for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, as of right now, the X-MEN do NOT factor into it. Not that surprising at all - we may not get a MCU X-Men film for 5 years but you better believe they'll start mentioning mutants and laying groundwork.

A 5-year cleansing might not be a bad idea.

Early projections estimate that the film could take in $50 million - tracking lower than other recent entries in the X-Men universe. (2016's X-Men: Apocalypse earned $65.7 in its first 3-day weekend in theaters.)

I can understand why you chose to decline, JB. I just worry that without your input, there is a greater chance that what is published will be inaccurate, and that information will become gospel.

My bet -- there will be a solo Wolverine movie before there's an X-MEN movie, and it'll appear before five years from now.

I have no idea who will play Logan, of course.

If I was Kevin Feige.....

Wolverine vs. Hulk would be my introduction vehicle for Wolverine into the MCU.

The big-screen Hulk does seem to play better when there are other characters to bounce off of.

Richard S. - LITERALLY!

I find it interesting that in two or three different Dark Phoenix treatments now, the X-Men involved keep changing. I remember Angel, Beast, Colossus, Cyclops*, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Wolverine - and Jean, of course. Then in X-Men 3, it was a different team - um, Beast, Colossus, Iceman*, Kitty, Storm, and Wolverine. This time... oh, blasted if I know, but I know that at least Quicksilver and Mystique are involved.

Part of the appeal of the original story is the relationship between Jean and that team of X-Men (or the original team.) I can't suspect Pietro and Jean have much of any relationship. And Ororo has been around for about eight minutes.

Considering how many good X-Men stories there are - say, the Living Pharaoh - going back to this well again seems a little premature.

*I wonder if Mr. Byrne has any discussion about why Iceman was left out of X-Men 136 and 137. Considering the rest of the original six X-Men were there... he must have been livid not to get a chance for fight for Jean.

I have a hankering to see Manu Bennett (Spartacus & Arrow) to play Logan/Wolverine in the MCU.

A bit of a prosthetic brow, and nose bridge to take away some of that ‘pretty’ in favor of some ‘primal’....

Eric, IIRC, JB has stated they were told by editorial that there were already plans for Iceman and they couldn’t use him in X-MEN.

of the Dark Phoenix Saga?

Given that Beast and Angel were involved in the Fate of the Phoenix, and that Jean Grey wears her Marvel Girl uniform in that story, how did the decision NOT to include Iceman in that storyline actually come about?

JB: As I recall, Bobby was "tied up" in a miniseries project that never came out.

Back then, people would often lay claim to characters (especially villains) and no one could use them because something was "in the works" -- and then never happened. (12/11/2004)
