New International Trailer with more footage.

A lot more Magneto and (I think?) some Emma Frost, but still no aliens or space.

Sexy flying lady that zaps stuff, shiny gold on costume, giant flame bird, goes on huge power trip, Mastermind gloats then gets fried, space police show up, everyone fights, sexy bad lady cracks and shows feelings, nobly does herself in... you would think it would be hard to screw this up actually.

Sometimes it's nice to immediately know which movie NOT to watch.

Why does Jennifer Lawrence look like she belongs in a 1990's TV movie version of the X-Men?

I'm hoping the trailer tease is true.  She's been very public about not wanting to play the role.  It would be great if she got killed off early on.

But yeah, there have been tons of delays and reshoots and it shows, I think.  The whole plot seems to take place in that trailer.  My suspicion is that after the Fox/Disney merger went through, this film and New Mutants became afterthoughts.

Jennifer Lawrence is phoning in this performance so hard she’s sponsored by Verizon.

It looks like her make-up is no longer actual make-up, but possibly CGI.
Casting her was one of many tragic....tragic errors in this franchise.

How many times can one series have a showdown in a small American town?!?

The problem with adapting Dark Phoenix is the viewer needs to have an affinity for Jean Grey in the first place to appreciate her torment. After 6 or 7 movies you'd think that would be nailed, but I still have no recognition or feeling whatsoever for movie Jean.
She's just... there.

I`m amazed, they let the same guy(Simon Kinberg) F*** it
up twice, and his second attempt seems worse!
Mystique does indeed look odd/terrible.Also, at the end
of the last film, they teased new uniforms, but are back
to the old ones, which somehow look cheap this time.

Thankfully the X-MEN franchise will be rebooted by Marvel Studios. Can't wait to see them utilized properly.

Failing upward seems to be all the rage in genre properties, these days.

I can’t even be bothered to watch the trailer.

Very generic. I suspect it will be a JUSTICE LEAGUE-level bomb.

My guess: "civilians" don't care about the X-Men without Wolverine. (Lots of fans, too...)

To paraphrase Jack Nicholson's Joker from THE BATMAN - this franchise needs an ENEMA!

Not that I'm a defender of the movie but how could you possibly have enough
information to make that judgement? I think she's been in maybe 20 seconds
of previews.

Was going to say the same thing.  We rail on people when they say JB "phones in" his art, so we should at least talk about the substance of the trailer without doing the same to an actress in it.

There's enough in the trailer to take issue with without ascribing some sort of laziness on the part of the actor to somehow prove that it's all a pile of shit.

@Matt and @Paul...fair points.  Well stated.

I say that based on nearly every performance she’s given as Mystique.  She makes no bones about not wanting to be in these movies anymore.    She publicly complains about the make-up process and if it is practical make-up in this installment then it looks terrible.  It looks like she may be colored via computer. But whatever was done I suspect it was done to appease her.  Not to serve the interests of the film.

I get the feeling ‘Mystique’ is exiting this movie early on because Jennifer Lawrence was done with the whole experience.

I miss Rebecca Romijn in the role.  She seemed to relish it.

This message brought to you by Verizon...and my humble opinion.

Fine.  Great.  I normally enjoy your opinion, David,  but in this instance I'm going to call bullshit on being able to tell an actor is "phoning it in".  We call out people all the time for claiming JB is doing the same thing, so I don't find it hard to call it out when people claim actors are "phoning it in". Perhaps talk about the substance or lack thereof of the film itself rather than intuiting the underlying objective of a specific actor as if we totally understand their dedication (or lack thereof) after watching less than 20 seconds of them in a trailer and only depend on tabloids to tell us how unsatisfied said actor is in their role.

I dunno.  That's just me.

Ok, I apologize for setting this thing off.

My words were clearly poorly chosen.

Let me correct myself.

I don’t expect much from her based on past lackluster performances as Mystique.

I hope that clarifies things.

She played Mystique? I thought she was Professor X’s heroic shapeshifting foster sister who was one of the founding X-Men.

The sooner Kevin Feige gets his hands on this franchise the better. It can't get any worse.
