I wanted to see Godzilla but missed the start time. So saw this to pass the time until the next showing. Should have stared @ a wall.

Not a single scene from the comic but lots of rehashed scenes from The Last stand. Lots of similar design choices as well - Jean wears a long coat, the Phoenix force makes your skin crack & show flame (as opposed to a great big flaming bird)

Just a complete & utter mess that serves no purpose in its existence. Im glad to see the back of this series that just limps along destroying my favourite stories.

With Marvel, you can see the thread & point to specific scenes, even shots.
With this, you just sit there bored.

In fact, I was in a cinema in Barcelona, on the back row. No one else in
My row, nearest person a few rows in front. I found myself so bored that I committed a cardinal sin & looked @ my phone while the film was on. I am 100% against doing this, but the film was just that bad.

I enjoyed Godzilla a lot more

Well, heck!

Looks like the Dazzler to me.  Talk about a missed opportunity!

I love the tag line on that Dark Phoenix poster: "Every hero has a dark side". Really?

I love the tag line on that Dark Phoenix poster: "Every hero has a dark side". Really?

Setting aside the obvious gag response, "Sure, it's the side away from the Sun," we see here the "dark" that has been increasingly infecting Hollywood and comics for decades now. Everyone must have feet of clay, sometimes right up to the shoulders.

This kind of thinking may have a lot to do with why this movie tanked. I recall Liz Lemon, on 30 ROCK, listing things in the world of which she was tired. One was "dark superheroes".

Like the crop of Marvel Studios movies up til now or
not, one area in which they were masterful was the
build. Just *imagine* an X-universe given that kind of
treatment, eventually leading to a proper Dark Phoenix
saga. Now, even with a complete reboot, an attempt at
Dark Phoenix will be a third time at bat. Heard from
movie-goers en masse: "Again???".

Yep JB, I was thinking along the same lines, plus, of direct relevance to this movie: it de-uniques Jean Grey and her struggle with Dark Phoenix if every hero has the same sorts of issues as implied.

Question:

Given how much of a disaster this movie is, both artistically and at the box office, and how much so many people hated the ending of GAME OF THRONES...is Sophie Turner's acting career in serious danger?

That may sound like a silly question but I do wonder. Actors' careers shouldn't ruined by bad scripts but it does happen. (We haven't seen very much of Topher Grace since SPIDER-MAN 3. Not really his fault.)

Good point. Like who was that guy in that one Batman movie... The one with the nipples! Slips my mind.

Anyway, Topher Grace choose to step back because he was married and had a good amount of money and really wanted to focus on the Indy side of things. Seems to work well enough for him as he was in the only two American films up for the Palm D'Or at Cannes last year.
