Thoughts? I'd like to see this succeed for Bill Mantlo's sake, but it seems like it's severely lacking in budget on Freeform.

Freeform is getting into the Superhero game. I think it looks interesting. It's going to get at least one episode look from me.

I'll give it a shot too. It's been a long time since I read the comic but it does seem to be trying to stay somewhat true to the comic at least.

Seeing Dagger cast with an actual teenager makes me realize how
creepy her comic book costume is. And Cloak was drawn looking 10-15
years older than he was supposed to be.

I would think Freeform wanted to jump on the bandwagon.

Well, the parent owner of Freeform is Disney and ultimately it's a question of how Disney think it can best leverage value from the Marvel marquee.

Some guesses:
  • Cloak and Dagger is seen as a better fit for Freeform's audience demographic
  • Netflix already has several Marvel products and there may be some fear of oversaturation
  • Disney wants to throw a bone to Freeform and help it grow. The Netflix deal is nice licensing revenue, but Netflix is still a separate company.
  • Maybe Netflix weren't even interested in this property?

The New Warriors TV show is going to be on Freeform too I believe, Daniel. And there's also Agents of Shield on ABC (and previously Agent Carter on ABC as well with Inhumans in the works.) With all the great Netflix Marvel series, there are a lot of Marvel TV shows on now with even more coming. Possibly a Punisher Netflix series, I believe in addition to Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Defenders. And, wow. I almost forgot the best Marvel show on right now in my opinion. Legion on FX.

I hear Disney/Marvel invested $42 million into this (comparatively, Netflix's Daredevil season 1 costed $56 million, but that was a 13-episode season with 50-minute episodes, while this is a 10-episode season with presumably the standard 40-minute episodes). Personally. I always loved the comic book imagery of Cloak and Dagger so I'm curious enough to tune in.

Wow, hadn't even heard about that one. That's another one where I have little investment in the original characters like Legion, so it might be one that I won't appalled by all the changes from the comic and be able to just sit back and enjoy it. Though in general I've never been much of a fan of teen superheroes or teen superhero teams with the exception of Kitty Pryde and Legion of Superheroes. Never really liked sidekicks though.

Charles, guess it had a bigger budget that I thought. I just would have figured that Cloak would have needed to be CGI to look more like his comic form than just a guy wearing a sheet.
