Going back to the days of VHS, I'm aware of the regions
established to keep pirating to a minimum.

I don't believe I bought a region free BluRay player. But,
I bought the Clone Wars box set off of Amazon for a steal.
It arrived Friday. It was then that I noticed the UK
ratings on the packaging and Warner Bros UK, on the
bottom. On a whim, I went ahead and put it in my player.
It's a little wonky getting from menu screen to menu
screen, but otherwise it plays.

Is this supposed to work or did I just get lucky?

DVD's are divided into regions and Blu-Rays are divided into zones.  It's the same type of thing but blu-rays can be zone free and be authentic, whereas dvd's that were region free were generally some form of bootleg.

So, you can often order from Amazon UK, Amazon IT, etc. and have a chance at getting the blu-ray that you want a lot cheaper than the US counterpart.

You just have to make sure that it is zone free and not region B Pal.

Most of the Warner Bros. Blu-rays are region free.

Thanks guys. I know this is a UK release.
I have an older LG BluRay player. It's not
a smart player, it just plays discs. I was
stunned that, even though the player has
to do a second or two of hunting for the
next menu, it would still come up and
still play with no trouble.

WB BluRays being region free seems to be
the most likely reason I can play these.
Believe me, I'm happy. The box set usually
sells for $100.00 on Amazon and they had a
deal to get it for $53.00.

If this is CLONE WARS, and you bought the UK release box set, I don't think you get season 6, so you will need to hunt that down.

I live in the UK and ended up having to buy a copy of the USA release
