Chuck Barris Passed Away.

Sad news. I loved "The Gong Show" (and still hope to see it released on Blu-Ray or DVD sometime in the future), and Chuck Barris was awesome! May he rest in peace.

What a long, strange, fun, intriguing life he led.  For much of the public, he was a flash-in-the-pan, a quirky addition to what was already a funky decade.  But his impact will live long after him.

RIP

I loved THE GONG SHOW and would gladly welcome back it's broad sense of humor and absurdity over the current crop of talent shows.

Chuck Barris was a mad ring leader with an infectious laugh.  Gene Gene the Dancing Machine was one of the best concepts of the 1970s - a bad dancer is lauded by the audience as random objects are thrown at him in his honor.  Gene Gene could barely shuffle much less dance, which made it funny.  Even better was Chuck's manic dancing and enthusiasm.

RIP to a game show and comedy legend,  As Chuck would say at the end of some shows - "'Bye y'all"

He was a pop culture machine - as mentioned in the
article, he was also responsible for THE NEWLYWED GAME
and THE $1.98 BEAUTY PAGEANT, among other shows...not
mentioned in the article is that he dedicated a bench in
Rittenhouse Square (in his hometown of Philadelphia) to
his parents (hey, it's a bigger deal than it sounds like
- bench space is at a premium).

RIP

I remember  "The Dating Game" and "The Newlywed Game" as a 4-5 year old.

But "The Gong Show" is one of the best game shows ever. There was always a funny moment. Gene-Gene, The Unknown Comic, and the celebrity judges were funny.

Maybe the Game Show Network or Buzzr will run a marathon in the next few days.

RIP Chuck!

Sad news,

I need to watch them again, I pretty sure I didn't catch all the innuendos and sassy humor that was being thrown out their. Especially by Jaye P. Morgan.

RIP

But, in honor of him, I'm going to choose to disbelieve this obvious government misinformation.  He's alive somewhere, probably on a mission.
