Especially nice (of a tremendously nice piece!) is the fact that Starfire is NOT drawn with a symmetrical costume... just as every other artist seemed to, and in the manner Perez DIDN'T.----- Really? I never realized that. Do you have an image of how Perez drew it? I'm having a hard time finding where that stands out.

The asymmetry in Starfire's costume is minor, as noted. She has a band around her left upper arm, but not her right. This is the kind of thing that can cause some artists to go into autopilot, and just duplicate whatever is on one side to the other. The real difference in Starfire, that 90% of artists miss, is that she had a very distinctive face. George designed her at the beginning of what would become his lifelong quest to give all the characters distinctive faces. and most artists, when drawing her, lapse into "hot babe" mode and lose her unique features. Add the tendency to draw slutty "bad girls" and George's character is pretty much scrubbed away.

Gotcha. I had noted the arm band but thought that asymmetry extended to the body of the costume. Thank you.

And meanwhile...WTF??? I guess this is not all that recent, since it has the partially unwrapped toilet seat bullet.

(Not looking to derail the thread but seriously couldn't walk by that comment...I know, I'm weak!)

And meanwhile...WTF??? It might be just me, but I find that 'new' costume (and face) rather generic. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but George's Starfire felt so cool and interesting to me as a teen, both as a design and a character. And why is she using magic bolts??? (heh)

His Starfire had one of the most innocent-looking female faces I've ever seen. I had always assumed that he took a cue from your Storm, especially for the eyes.

Starfire is one of those characters that's so associated with one artist that I find it hard to see her drawn by almost anyone else
